Job Description
The Regional Director of Career Services is responsible for managing the Directors of Career Services and Coordinators to guide the vision and long-term strategic planning for careers that support students and alumni. This position oversees the actions and responsibilities of Careers Services Directors and Coordinators with regards to job search support, programming, and resources for students and alumni. This position is also responsible for leading all Directors of Career Services in planning, developing and administering career and employment assistance programs for students and alumni.
Responsibilities
- Establish goals and objectives and develop strategic and operational plans for providing career services; assess and report outcomes to management and key stakeholders;
- Supervise Career Services in consistent opportunities for professional growth and development; hire, train and manage full- and part-time staff as well as student workers;
- Oversee the management of department budget for staffing, programming, and various events;
- Ensure that student follow-ups are being conducted in accordance with department policies and procedures;
- Build effective relationships with local and regional employers, non-profits, government organizations and community partners to identify employment opportunities for students and alumni;
- Actively maintain an awareness of employment and industry trends and discuss research with Career Services and Education department as appropriate;
- Work with Directors of Career Services to plan, promote and market services and information to students, including information resources, career counseling, and career-related programs;
- Develop and implement strategic plans according to mission, goals, and market realities; manage growth accordingly;
- Oversee the timely collection and reporting of student and alumni employment outcomes and ensure that accurate data are submitted as required by state, accrediting, and federal agencies;
- Provide continuous assessment of the department and develop sustainable processes to improve efficiencies and drive continuous improvement in programs and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred;
- 5+ years management experience in professional recruiting, temp agency recruiting, career center or human resources;
- Must have demonstrable management and organizational skills;
- Strong understanding of regulatory procedures and compliance;
- Knowledge of curriculum and graduation requirements;
- Knowledge of academic student record keeping in a setting of higher education;
- Strong familiarity with the local job market.
