Job Description

Our company is looking for an experienced Revenue Accountant to perform accounting functions in our small accounting department. The Revenue Accountant completes the revenue accounting activities and tasks required to process bookings and revenue recognition using established practices and methods. Reviews sales and settlement revenue information for accuracy and completeness and performs the correct revenue recognition procedures. The Revenue Accountant position requires strong communication skills, as this role will be interfacing with key stakeholders, departmental staff and various business partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for keeping Accounts Receivable (AR) in compliance within terms, and reporting and investigating any AR issues.
  • Prepare and code deposits and apply payments to AR subledger
  • Works with budget managers
  • Participates in the monthly close process by generating various journal entries, preparing required reconciliations, and analytically reviewing specific general ledger accounts for accuracy and proper valuation
  • Maintains general ledger subledgers for balance sheet and assists with monthly financial statements
  • Classifies, examines, and analyzes accounting records and prepares all related financial reports and statements to internal and external parties
  • Track invoicing to ensure timely billing and collection of funds
  • Prepare and send invoices to all external customers, in addition to preparing grant reporting as requested
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
  • Maintains governmental filing requirements, including sales tax
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Assists with the annual year-end audit process, including preparing audit schedules
  • Perform special and specific financial and statistical analysis as requested.
  • Performs other ad-hoc projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent with at least three years accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP
  • Advanced experience using Excel and other products in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical individuals, using data to tell a story
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
  • Exceptional ability to work collaboratively and provide customer service with internal staff and external partners
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment and critically analyze reports for accuracy
  • Ability to solve problems in straightforward situations and analyzes possible solutions using technical experience, judgment and precedents
  • Solid knowledge of good accounting control practices; with attention to both big picture and details
  • Ability to process a high volume of work while meeting critical deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, with excellent skills in initiating solutions
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as deadlines demand

Benefits

This position is full-time with excellent benefits, and is based at our two downtown San Diego Symphony locations: The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and Jacobs Music Center. There is also the opportunity for this position to be hybrid (work from home and on site). The salary range for this position is $65-$70k.
