The Road Home has been a leader in the fight to end homelessness for 100 years (1923-2023). Under the supervision of the HR Director, the Human Resources (HR) Coordinator has the primary responsibility of representing The Road Home to candidates seeking employment at the agency. Onboarding new team members, working collaboratively within the HR team, and communicating effectively with stakeholders inside and outside the organization are priorities of the HR Coordinator.

Administrative Support Workers
Duties and Responsibilities Hiring and Onboarding
- Act as a liaison between hiring managers and potential applicants during the onboarding process
- Schedule all parts of the pre-hire screening and new hire orientation once a potential employee has been identified and a job offer has been extended.
- Think inclusively when communicating with candidates of various abilities and backgrounds and offer creative solutions for completion of interviews, paperwork, prescreens, and other pre-hire steps
- Throughout the hiring process, use Workable software, and other methods such as phone calls and texts, to maintain a connection with candidates through their preferred communication method
- As outlined by agency procedures and grants, complete necessary reference checks and background screens and schedule drug screening
- Learn shelter licensing requirements, and assist candidates with background checks, fingerprinting, and other required steps
- Prepare for and participate in weekly new hire orientations
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance of W-4 and I-9 forms and collection of required identification and documentation
- Create and maintain employee files and records
Team Collaboration
- Assist Recruiter with pre-screening prospective employees
- Assist with employment verifications
- Proactively respond to HR team emails when appropriate
- Serve as back-up to other team members when needed
- Look for opportunities to learn about Human Resources and bring efficiency and effectiveness to the role and the team
- Learn about employment laws, benefits, agency policies and procedures, to serve as a resource and support for all The Road Home staff
- Participate in HR deadlines and projects, such as preparing for grant monitorings, agency audits, and other assignments
Agency Enhancement
- Participate in and support activities and events, including acceptance and completion of additional assignments
- Interact with peers, clients, volunteers, visitors and the public in a kind and courteous manner

Requirements
- Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Work experience in a general office setting required, HR experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of employee benefits, employment laws, and HR best practices preferred
- Familiarity with the principles of trauma informed care, and experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
