Job Description

Outdoor travel is fun and adventurous!

But planning and booking your trip sucks!

BookOutdoors is reimagining what the outdoor travel experience can (and should) be.

The founders are successful tech entrepreneurs ($2B+ in exits) and outdoor travel industry titans, and our investors are some of the best in the country (see below). We are pre-seed stage and are building the founding team.
We believe getting outdoors is the remedy for our modern, connected lives.
Agree? Help us reimagine and fundamentally transform how people travel outdoors.

-

Who we want to work with
  • People who love building things, especially from the 0 to 1 phase, that improve people’s lives
  • People with a positive mindset who believe something good is just about to happen
  • Competitive people who are constantly striving to become a better version of themselves

Requirements

Why You Might Be a Great Fit

  • You love building the first version of applications that delight customers and the developers working on them
  • You are a pragmatist that can use any toolchain to solve problems
  • You aren't afraid to learn new technologies, but you also understand the tradeoffs necessary to ship products quickly
  • You’re a full stack developer with 5+ years professional experience:
    • Solid fundamentals of modern node/js based system architecture, structure and design
    • Strong experience with micro-services and serverless architecture
    • Strong experience consuming, building and documenting both internal and external APIs (REST)
    • Experience with node.js - Typescript experience preferred
    • Framework: react, next.js (https://nextjs.org/)
    • Framework: vue 3 / nuxt 3 (nice to have).
    • Experience with PostgreSQL (we use https://supabase.com/)
    • Experience with Prisma (https://www.prisma.io/) or another comparable ORM
  • You’re self-motivated and have great pride and ownership in your work
  • You’re able to (overly) communicate in a remote-first work environment
  • You’re US-based and available to work during US business hours
  • You're a rockstar!

Bonus points

  • You code for fun
  • You’ve previously helped create a marketplace product
  • You love the outdoors and like to go camping

Benefits

Why you want to work with us

  • Remote-first - We are currently fully-remote, and all of our processes, communications, and culture are designed remote-first. However, we plan to have an office hub in Denver soon where employees will be expected to work from at least part of the time.

  • Work-life balance - It's a bit cliché, but we do want you to find balance and take time for yourself. Yes, this is a startup, but we care more about results than hours spent! Honestly, sometimes things get busy, but it shouldn't be the norm. We have lives outside of work, and we want you to as well. (all the founders have kids, so we know how that goes)

  • Competitive compensation amp; benefits - We'll pay you a good amount, cover your health insurance, kit out your home office, make sure you take plenty of time off, and give you meaningful early stage equity so when BookOutdoors wins, you win!

  • Amazing perks - We want you to use the thing you're building, so we'll give you "adventure bonuses" to travel outdoors. You'll also get parental leave for all parents, mandatory birthday holidays, reimbursements for meditation app (Headspace, Calm, etc) and gym/Peloton memberships, plenty of company surprises and swag, and more.

  • Great culture - We have fun celebrating our wins and each other. We believe in mental wellness. We're proud of our work. We come from diverse backgrounds and a place of respect. We
