Job Description
Discovery Education is looking for a Project Manager, Science Techbook to join our Product team. The Project Manager, Science Techbook works as part of the Product Management and Development Team to support the development of Discovery Education’s Techbook digital services and print products. The individual is responsible for planning and managing Science Techbook projects, including creating and managing development schedules, identifying, and mitigating risks to outcomes or deliverables, collaborative problem-solving, managing project budgets, vendor communication and coordination, and communicating status to stakeholders.
This role will sit in our Charlotte NC headquarters with a hybrid schedule.
What You Will Do
- Create and manage development timelines for complex projects with interwoven dependencies.
- Employ project management best-practices and establish processes that improve efficiencies when needed.
- Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to take solutions from ambiguous ideas to executable plans.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all workstreams are on track with requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
- Facilitate change requests to ensure all stakeholders are aware of impacts to budget and schedule.
- Manage contracts with vendors and ensure synergies between vendor timelines and overall project timelines.
- Anticipate unintended implications/complications and socialize risk to determine best outcomes.
- Identify and mitigate risk to project schedules which would impact outcomes or deliverables.
- Track project costs and ensuring project is delivered on budget.
- Communicate project status (risks, adjustments, and progress) on a consistent basis to various stakeholders.
Requirements
- Passionate about Discovery Education's vision to transform teaching and learning.
- 3+ years of experience in project management.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience.
- Proven track record for successfully managing complex digital projects.
- Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations and act decisively.
- Positive, solution-oriented team player with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership.
- Impeccable attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with project tracking software or methodologies.
- Budget management experience.
- Ability to delegate effectively.
- Ability to understand how small changes impact the larger deliverable.
- Experience with content creation or EdTech is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in use of multiple types of software applications (MS Office and Outlook systems, Smartsheet, JIRA, Confluence, Asana).
- Up to 10% travel.
