Job Description

M.S. Walker, distributor of fine wine and spirts, has an immediate opening for an entry-level Maintenance Technician who will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of an automatic conveyor system, along with other various support machinery, at our Norwood, MA distribution warehouse. Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Manager, this is a great opportunity for a team player who thrives on contributing to an organization through efficient and independent problem-solving. Shift: 1st Shift - Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting on all distribution and facilities related equipment including but not limited to Hydraulic Docks, Overhead doors, Conveyance system, and pallet wrappers
  • Enter and complete work orders by logging actions and findings
  • Diagnose and repair all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC systems as needed to minimize operational downtime.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance including filter changes, equipment preventative maintenance and repair; perform repairs to facility support systems, manufacturing amp; distribution equipment, walls, floors, ceilings, basic plumbing, doors, and any other facility related items; construct or install additions and upgrades to the facility including but not limited to cabinets, tables, office furniture, appliances, and other equipment.
  • Assist distribution operations by setting up equipment and making running adjustments to maintain maximum efficiency.
  • Perform and develop PM’s, understand troubleshooting guides, and use standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is set up, maintained, and operated to allow for safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work environment by cleaning and returning tools, equipment, and supplies to the appropriate storage areas after each assignment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC issue with third party support.
  • Operate and troubleshoot the conveyance system from a computer workstation.
  • Responsible for keeping all tools, equipment, and work area organized.
  • Perform daily/monthly checks of the facility for safety and compliance.

Requirements

  • Electrical and mechanical background with 2-5 years of work experience using conveyors, sorters, labelers, wrappers, merger stations, and general industrial manufacturing and distribution equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of conveyance systems including Electric, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Schematics
  • Ability to work on motors, gearboxes, photo eyes, chains, sprockets, shafts, belts/lacing, and rollers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment including fan coils, HVAC air handlers, and dehumidifiers, boilers, compressors, and other facilities related equipment
  • Proficient understanding of BMS Systems
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Ability to work OT and or a rotating on-call schedule for after-hour emergency repairs
  • Proper use and understanding of PPE, LOTO, and risk management
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints, and to follow SOP's
  • Ability to operate a forklift (Massachusetts 1D Hoisting License is a plus)
  • MA driver’s license is required
  • Able to use Building Automation Systems and Computer Maintenance Management Systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Physical Requirements include, but are not limited to: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, lift up to 70lbs, use hand power tools and regular tools, and work on and set up staging and ladders.
  • Licensed electrician or HVAC license/ certification preferred
