We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented financial professional to join our Finance team. The Accounting Specialist will take ownership of a broad range of functions that might include Accounts Payable, financial report preparation, multi-state and international sales tax preparation, account reconciliations, and other responsibilities as assigned. Our organization is composed of several entities and is growing rapidly, so the position will change and grow along with it.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership of sales tax compliance process utilizing automated sales tax processing software
- Comprehensive management of the financial books for the primary operating entity and several related entities
- Monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
- Preparation of regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports
- Understanding of financial results and explanation of variances
- Handling of Accounts Payable functions
- Advisor to Wholesale Team on Accounts Receivable as needed
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable accounting policies, rules and regulations.
- Create formal accounting policies and procedures for this role as well as for different departments and teams.
- Prepare financial reports for annual state and federal tax returns
- Other administrative responsibilities related to financial management
Requirements
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and best practices
- High degree of proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Initiative in problem solving and troubleshooting
- Strong Reporting and Research Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management
- We are a privately held company, so a CPA is not required
- Previous bookkeeping or general accounting experience preferred
- Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas would be beneficial
