About the Role:

Cognism is looking for a VP, Corporate Controller who will lead, manage and support the company’s Accounting operations and financial reporting. This will include development and implementation of accounting policies, generating monthly financials and analysis, as well as working with the business operations to simplify and reduce friction in commercial activities. They will also be the lead interface with our audit and tax firms and will own the process around Audit Committee meetings. This is the leader of the company’s Global Accounting organization reporting directly to the CFO.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner to the Leadership Teams and advise on all Accounting related activities.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Lead all activities related to our annual audit process.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual tax return with outside CPA firm.
  • Lead high quality and timely monthly/quarter close process, with detailed monthly financial analysis.
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances, manage the banking relationships and maximize the return on any excess cash balances.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Stay abreast on industry changes and current tax/accounting laws.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Keep management apprised of financial results/issues and emerging trends.
  • Identify issues and opportunities to improve financial processes and implement recommended solutions.

Requirements

  • 15+ Years’ experience in Corporate Accounting, preferably working in a hyper growth SAAS environment or similar investment banking experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • Big 4 experience and CPA preferred.
  • Experience managing financials across multiple international entities.
  • Netsuite experience, ideally having completed an implementation.
  • IPO and/or SEC reporting experience is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Strong executive leadership skills with experience in growing and leading a high-performance team of finance professionals.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership in ambiguous and frequently changing situations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deal efficiently with a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and technical skills to lead the day-to-day activities of the team and build relationships with the extended organization.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
