NeueHouse currently operates across four different, but equally iconic, properties in New York City and Los Angeles:
- Our Madison Square (MSQ) House is situated in New York’s iconic Flatiron District, was previously home for Tepper Galleries, a well-known Manhattan auction house for international artists and collectors in the 1930s and neighbors the 69th Regiment Armory where the first International Exhibition of Modern Art was held.
- Our Hollywood House (HWD), which sits on Sunset Boulevard, is one of LA’s most celebrated buildings and occupies the original CBS Studio (the world’s first structure built intentionally for broadcast). Here genre- defining artists from Orson Wells and Lucille Ball to Janis Joplin, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan built their legacy.
- Our Bradbury House (BB) sits within the Bradbury building in DTLA. Built in 1893, the Bradbury Building is an architectural masterpiece and one of Los Angeles’ most historic landmarks. It has been heralded as one of the most thrilling spaces in all North America and is renowned for its breathtaking skylit atrium filled with walkways, stairs, balconies, and intricate ironwork.
- Our Venice Beach House (VB) was once the creative home to some of the most influential creative luminaries in art and entertainment including Hal Ashby, Oliver Stone, and David Hockney, NeueHouse Venice Beach is a new work, social, and cultural hub for the Venice creative community.
The Role
The Director of Banquets role requires the planning and coordinating of all day-to-day activities required to run a large-scale Private Events operation at NeueHouse Hollywood. As leader of the Food and Beverage Department, this role has a clear and direct interface between the Director of Food and Beverage and Executive Chef, with a dotted line to the property General Manager. With a mandate to uphold and highlight the NeueHouse core values of innovation, inclusion, inspiration and sustainability, the Banquet Director oversees an extensive, equally passionate team and is responsible for, but not limited to, menu development, events team recruitment, training and scheduling, BEO creation, with a consistent hands-on approach to high touch event execution.
Our Banquet Director represents NeueHouse with hospitality and generosity, in every interaction with Members, Guests, and team, taking every opportunity to enhance our member experience and the brand. They should expect to manage through ambiguity and will need to be ready to support all NH departments in meeting the needs of the House.
Requirements
- An average of 5+ years of managing food and beverage event operations in a highly visible, hospitality-focused cultural environment or related industry.
- An advocate and ambassador of service excellence, understanding the critical role that Membership and exceeding expectations play in the success of the private events operation.
- Work closely with the Director of Food and Beverage and House General Manager to provide direction and input on all matters relating to NeueHouse Hollywood's private events operations.
- Directs and oversees the proper execution of private events, by coordinating and managing the efforts of the Famp;B Managers, Captains, and Support staff.
- Conducts meetings with the Events team, Set-Up, Kitchen, and Production team to plan private events, functions and communicate information relevant to the operation.
- Assists Captains with a pre-function briefing with servers to include timing, menus, customer expectations, side duties, and assignment of server stations. Assures VIP areas are staffed with the appropriate team ambassadors.
- Assure all Triple Seat banquet checks are accurate, presented on a timely basis to the customer for signature, and posted on the day of the event, and ensure all Manager reports are completed and communicated on a timely basis.
- In-house overseeing day-to-day of private events operations in conjunction with the General Manager and other business unit leaders including all administrative mail, email, management of digital and physical records of staff, finances, and other related inventory.
