Job Description

World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented and committed Senior Manager, Western US Relief Operations to directly lead our regional relief activation team which includes the Culinary, Distribution, Community Outreach, and Procurement/Logistics Managers. Part of a growing and geographically dispersed Relief Operations team, the successful candidate must possess a sincere desire to be an innovative contributor in this role, thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment, and have a demonstrated ability for being effective functionally and strategically.

This role will report to the Director of Relief Operations and work closely with other Senior Managers. This role requires a sincere commitment to WCK’s mission, the ability to immediately travel 70-80% to relief activities world-wide, the availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and flexibility for cultural, language, and time zone differences.

This role is intended to be a full-time exempt position based in any state in the continental Western United States and within one hour of a major international airport.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, as needed, within eight hours to a Disaster Area/Emergency Response
  • Lead and develop Unit Managers to ensure effective relief operations including with staffing, training, systems, inventory, safety, and program management
  • Develop and implement effective solutions in collaboration with WCK leaders and departments
  • Develop and maintain effective external relationships before and during activations
  • Remotely support and coordinate tasks, activities, planning, operations, and special projects
  • Accurately report on operations and disaster news and trends internally and externally as directed
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for operational efficiency and financial controls
  • Maintain required certifications such as ServSafe Food Safety, CPR, and Forklift Operator
  • Operate and thrive in stressful, fast-paced situations with positivity and patience while displaying genuine compassion for those in crisis
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant management experience managing deployed relief teams
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically build relationships in new environments
  • Demonstrated ability as a leader in remote and in-person working environments
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills in challenging untraditional environments
  • Demonstrated advanced cross-cultural communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Google, Microsoft Office, and relevant management programs
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, quickly and on short notice, for extended periods of time
  • Valid Driver’s license and passport
  • Current employment authorization in the US
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability for extended physical exertion during an activation
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and approved

Preferred candidates will also have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field from an internationally recognized university; proficiency in Spanish or French; prior experience with WCK; and experience in high-volume catering or similar operations.
