About the role

As the Head of Design, you will play a crucial role in shaping our product vision and strategy, ensuring that our design efforts align with our business objectives and deliver exceptional user experiences. You will lead a team of talented designers and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and executives. Your primary responsibilities will include providing design leadership, driving innovation, managing and growing the design team, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic direction for product design, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and objectives.
  • Define and maintain design principles, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all product experiences.
  • Inspire and motivate the design team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive design thinking and user-centered design processes throughout the organization.
  • Lead and manage a team of talented designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for skill development and career progression.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to ensure effective cross-functional collaboration and resource allocations

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in product design across various platforms.
  • At least 5 years of experience in people management, leading and growing design teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering and launching user-centered design solutions that have had a positive impact on business metrics.
  • Deep understanding of design principles, usability best practices, and the ability to translate complex concepts into intuitive and visually appealing designs.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and familiarity with user research methodologies.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field is preferred.
