Job Description

Job Summary:

The Quality Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)/Computer Aided Design (CAD) Engineering Technician is responsible for the measuring of all parts to aerospace industry and government specifications. They are also responsible for documenting all part-dimensional findings and storing the files in a backend computing system. This position is critical to the quality inspection process.

General Responsibilities

  • Performs electronic inspection of parts using an electronic Keyence IM-8000 Coordinate Measuring Machine.
  • Inspects aerospace and SAE specification fasteners and hardware within prescribed tolerances, to-part print specifications, and working to aerospace and SAE common tolerances.
  • Create and edit dimensional inspection CAD files based on the measurements for the electronic equipment computing backend system.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications and geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Investigate instances of mismeasurement; to identify research, analyze, and report measurement problems.
  • Must be able to interact and assist with other Quality personnel in regard to part conformance and process capability.
  • Assist in training other employees in electronic inspection operations and CAD file creation.
  • Understands, implements, and maintains the Company's quality policy through the performance of all duties and responsibilities to insure accuracy.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Job Requirements

  • Documented training or experience with electronic CMM operation. (Keyence IM-8000 preferred).
  • Documented training or experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) operation and file creation.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting aerospace and SAE technical data, specifications and drawings.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, math data, reports, instructions, and guidelines.
  • Proficient in using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GDamp;T).
  • Proficient in using measuring instruments, i.e., caliper, micrometer, height gages, etc
  • Proficient in personal computer operation and applications in a MS Windows operating system.
  • Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relationships.
  • Occasionally required to sit, balance, and bend.
  • Employee must frequently lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous visual attention required.

Education

  • Associate Degree/Vocational School/Technical School with Three years of related experience and/or training in CAD and or Quality CMM
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with Four years of related experience and/or training
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience recommended.

Experience:

  • Must have at least 3+ years of CMM Quality Inspection Experience
  • Must have at least 3+ years of Computer Aided Design (CAD) User: 3 Years (minimum)
