Requirements
You are a challenge-driven individual with 6+ years of hands-on experience with production Linux systems, developing systems automation / DevOps tools, and expertise with Storage and Networks. You are excited by the opportunity to help build a world-class solution. Specifically:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with production Linux systems.
- Systems automation and DevOps tooling (Salt, Ansible, Terraform).
- Linux systems (RHEL/Rocky, Ubuntu, Alpine).
- Scripting amp; Programming (Python, Elixir, Unix shell).
- CI/CD systems (Jenkins, Circle, CodeShip).
- Networking, Sockets, Traffic Routing, Load Balancing.
- SAN systems and local Linux storage raid.
We know people have a wide variety of experiences, and if you can learn well, that is the most important aspect. However, we are delighted if you also bring experience with any of the following:
- OS PXE installation, specifically RHEL Kickstart and Ubuntu.
- Creating network-attached storage solutions served by Linux (such as via iSCSI or FCoE).
- OCP systems (Open Compute Project from Facebook).
- Network VLAN, VXLAN, and network layers 2 and 3.
- Large-scale deployments (thousands of servers).
- High-performance networking (25-100GB).
- Building embedded Linux systems (Yocto or other).
- Automating real-time IPtables/FirewallD network controls.
- Containers (Docker, Kubernetes, or other styles).
- AWS, EC2, VPC, S3, and other services.
- Software Development building more than just scripts.
As a fantastic engineer, you also:
- Demonstrate an ability to adapt and learn new technologies.
- Have an understanding of application stacks and how modern applications are structured and built as a lt;12factor.netgt; app.
- Are experienced with software development, programming, and scripting, but also like to be involved in how the platform and infrastructure are put together.
- Understand security concerns and authentication models.
- Love to automate everything.
- Enjoy being a point expert on specific technologies, but also cross-training other team members to back-fill you when you are unavailable.
- Understand how to build solutions with an agile approach. You’re excited to collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers and use real-time feedback to solve problems iteratively.
- Think like an Architect, work as an Engineer, and enjoy the problem-solving challenges of Operations.
- Like to participate as a member of a highly collaborative and effective team that provides the technology services for the company.
- Are capable of recognizing what you don’t know, and you learn new things quickly.
- Are willing to stand for and explain what you believe in, and you are okay even if it is not what is used.
