General Summary and Essential Duties amp; Responsibilities:

The Corporate Controller leads the company’s accounting functions, including internal and external financial reporting, tax compliance, risk management support, implementing and monitoring internal controls, facilitating audits, accounts receivable and payable processing, and treasury management. This position is broad-ranging while being hands-on, with significant exposure to the executive team. Areas of impact include leading a team to develop and scale processes, systems, reports, and workflows as the company continues to grow and evolve to create efficiencies, ensure timely financial reporting with the highest standard of quality, improve cash flow, and mitigate risk.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities to Include:

  • Lead, support, develop, and coach the accounting team while driving efficiency, process improvements, and robust internal controls to keep up with the demands of Spartech’s business.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes including required entries, detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and industry-specific standards, and debt covenant compliance and reporting.
  • Oversee local, state, and federal tax compliance to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all government reporting and tax filings across all geographical areas in which the company operates.
  • Manage day-to-day treasury activities and general ledger entries to ensure consistent and timely reporting and forecasting of cash requirements, including debt and interest related transactions and requirements.
  • Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, implementing metric driven performance criteria and analyzing opportunities to drive working capital improvement across the company.
  • Develop relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking contacts to ensure timely, accurate, and value-add services are delivered in accordance with the company’s requirements.
  • Assist with Mamp;A activities, including financial due diligence, integration of shared services (AR, AP, Treasury) post-acquisition, and business combination accounting in compliance with ASC 805.
  • Support risk management services and renewals, including property, casualty, and benefits, across the portfolio of companies and divisions to ensure consistency while balancing an optimal cost structure with potential risk.
  • Serve as an advisor for the 401(k) plan and lead the annual plan audit, ensuring accuracy of financial statements and 5500.
  • Assist CFO and Executive Team with ad-hoc projects as needed.
  • Create a high performing culture focused on value creation, delivering results, and stakeholder influence.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 12+ Years of progressive accounting experience, with a mix of public and industry experience within the manufacturing sector, and at least 7 years in a supervisory role.
  • Must be an entrepreneurial self-starter, with the ability and desire to drive action across an organization.
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to build rapport and trust with stakeholders of all levels.
  • Team player with a collaborative spirit, cooperative attitude, and ability to work across multiple departments.
  • Strong planning and execution skills with demonstrated business, systems, and process improvement impact in previous roles.</
