We are seeking to hire an Assistant Controller to join our Finance team

JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the monthly close and the general ledger as well as the maintenance of cost data in the ERP system, analyzing key cost elements, including production volume, manufacturing process changes, labor cost, raw material prices, and overheads.

This diverse role provides financial support to the Contract Development (CDO), CMO (Contract Manufacturing), and CPO (Contract Packaging) organizations to aid in cost management for the manufacturing, packaging, and research teams.

Additional responsibilities and special projects may be assigned based on the needs of the business.

The hybrid role will be based in Philadelphia, PA, and will report to the local site Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist the controller in overseeing the site financial budget and forecasting operations for the site P+L, Balance Sheet, and Capital Expenditures.
  • Manage the month-end close process and ensure the timely reporting of all financial reporting and analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze local site financial statements.
  • Manage the accounting activities involved in capital assets (SAGE), general ledger, and standard cost systems.
  • Assist the controller in developing cost standards for materials, labor, and overheads for costing inventory and customer pricing.
  • Develop and implement cost accounting processes and procedures related to the following activities:
  • Assist with continuous process improvements and the operational site excellence program.
  • Participate in the implementation and integration of a new ERP in the US as part of a worldwide global implementation.
  • Document policies, procedures, and internal controls as needed. Participate in external audit reviews as needed and fulfill audit data requests.
  • Review and approve designated account reconciliations and analyses.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate accounting staff
  • Work with Supply Chain and implement cycle count and physical inventory processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field, MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of Cost Accounting and Operational FPamp;A experience, including experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • SAP or Oracle accounting knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Strong internal control knowledge and experience
  • Strong Excel skills; must know V-lookups and Pivot Tables; comfort with learning and implementing new systems
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to review financial analyses and account reconciliations and identify potential issues
  • Ability to manage multiple, sometimes conflicting priorities, to achieve desired outcomes. Comfortable in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to identify risks and opportunities and ensure strong communication between Accounting Operations, FPamp;A, Tax, Treasury, External Audit, and Supply Chain
  • Excellent business acumen, with strong verbal and written communication skills
