Job Description

Energy Impact Partners (EIP) is a global investment platform leading the transition to a sustainable energy future. EIP is seeking a Sector Lead at the Senior Associate or Associate Vice President level to spearhead our market analysis and commercialization efforts in commercialization, research, amp; innovation work in the areas of digital transformation amp; cybersecurity. This role will be primarily responsible for: (1) Building relationships with operational leaders from our strategic partner organizations (e.g. CIOs, CISOs, and their direct reports); (2) driving commercialization between our partners and our portfolio to help scale the technologies in which we invest, and (3) synthesizing market research into unique insights amp; strategic frameworks for our internal and external network.

We’re looking for the rare triple-threat: a master relationship builder; an excellent heads-down technology market researcher; and an insight machine. This role also works closely with our investment team and other functions within our tight-knit company.

EIP is headquartered in New York City. We prefer candidates who can work out of our HQ, but we are open to excellent candidates elsewhere.


Key Areas of Responsibility

LP engagement amp; strategy

  • Prepare and facilitate collaborative, topical workshops with cyber and digital leaders from EIP’s strategic partner organizations.
  • Develop ongoing content and engagement strategies for these representatives.
  • Synthesize content into visually appealing slide decks amp; concise written reports.
  • Present this material to our utility partners amp; select external stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic workshops with individual partners to support their innovation efforts.

Portfolio support

  • Consult with EIP’s portfolio companies on their product roadmaps amp; go-to-market strategy, particularly within the energy sector.
  • Drive commercial relationships between our portfolio and our strategic LPs.
  • Build our portfolio’s brand and relationships in the broader energy industry ecosystem.

Collaborate with our deal teams

  • Leverage market research and strategic partner relationships to source new investment opportunities
  • Work closely with investment team members in diligence efforts by facilitating feedback from the experts in our strategic partner base and executing in-house market analysis
  • Enable effective portfolio company management through ongoing engagement and collaboration between investors and customers

Research amp; analysis

  • Analyze a wide range of market sectors amp; technologies, via both desktop research and interviews with market participants. Core sector coverage will include: enterprise software; data management; application development amp; deployment; cloud migration; human resources technology; and cybersecurity.
  • Stay apprised of important market amp; policy developments.
  • Develop insights and frameworks for understanding emerging technology ecosystems.
  • Identify potentially investable companies and gather information about those companies’ products, track records and go-to-market strategies.
  • Apply your knowledge and insight to EIP’s investment process.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of work experience in one or more of the following functions, for software and/or cybersecurity: assessment amp; implementation; market research;
