Job Description
The Mannahouse Christian Academy (MCA) teacher delivers academic excellence and helps students to develop healthy spiritual lives. MCA Teachers provide academic, moral, and spiritual instruction to students as prescribed in MCA curriculum; they support the general development of personal, social and communication skills in students; and perform a variety of routine and special teaching duties; and do related work as needed. The MCA teacher partners with families in the spiritual, social, and emotional development of their children.

- Provides direction to Teaching Assistants as needed
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (teaching licensure preferred); Requires experience and/or education in a subject field related to the subject that they will be teaching; Demonstrates a very good command of the oral and written English language; Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English; Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or school patrons; Ability to work harmoniously with others; Ability to establish a pleasant work environment in the classroom setting; Must be a member in good standing of Mannahouse church or a like-minded church, including consistent attendance, ministry participation, and tithing.
Responsibilities
- Provides a variety of classroom techniques and methods to promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities while utilizing current and relevant subject matter.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction to organize instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes, employ and select teaching strategies congruent with planned student outcomes while emphasizing student involvement, and monitor student learning and pace instruction accordingly.
- Develops and maintains an environment conducive to effective student learning; including developing, communicating, and enforcing written rules of classroom behavior. Additionally, communicates course goals and academic expectations to students while ensuring the health and safety of students in all instructional settings.
- Prepares effectively for class; including preparing daily lesson plans and providing instruction predicated on course goals and objectives.
- Develops, communicates, and makes available appropriate grading standards to students and parents by establishing written grading standards that are clear and incorporate a variety of graded activities.
- Develops and maintains positive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with administration, staff, students, and parents by modeling personal behaviors of honesty, fairness, courtesy and consideration. Share appropriate information with parents and other staff members.
- Provides documentation of students' progress; including assigning, checking, providing feedback, and maintaining records on student homework and performance.
- Builds motivation and interest in learning through exhibiting personal interest, encouraging student interest in the subject area, and maintaining a current awareness of literature/activities in subject area.
