As the Senior Buyer, you'll play a critical role in the day-to-day effective purchasing of direct material as well as driving procurement process improvements. Leaning on your strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, problem solving and negotiation attributes, you'll be responsible for driving process improvements for the Supply Chain team. Success will be measured through tracked results in the areas of P.P.V, additional cost-out activities, inventory turns, supplier performance, plant’s on-time delivery and days-payable goals.
Essential Functions
- Achieve P.P.V. goals for commodities of responsibility (Domestic amp; LCR PPV 's)
- Achieve inventory reduction goals (Inventory Receipts)
- Support overall company goal of 95% on-time delivery to customer request through on-time delivery performance of suppliers within commodities of responsibility (Supplier OTD %)
- Ensure high quality products from suppliers within commodities of responsibility (Supplier PPM)
- Drive procurement process improvements to ensure future / long term success
- Negotiates major purchasing contracts, blanket orders and long-term purchase agreements taking into account liability
- Establishes mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to ensure high quality goods, reliable delivery dates, and reasonable and consistent pricing
- Perform high quality transactions to eliminate A/P issues and ensure efficient receiving
- Maintain P.P.V funnel
- Prepare reports as required
- Act as back-up to Supply Chain Manager
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years purchasing experience with proven results
- Experience in J.I.T. environment strongly preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of Kanban implementation / management
- Basic understanding of material management ERP
- Demonstrated successful project management skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, engineering or related field required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain at a stationary position 50% of the time
- Ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
- Ability to work overtime
Work Environment:
- The duties of the job are primarily performed in an office environment
- There is some exposure to noise in the work environment, which is usually moderate
- This position is not eligible for telework
