The CFX Supervisor supervises a team of CFX artists to create grooms, cloth and muscle/fat, etc. rigs during asset creation and its application as technical animation during shot production, partnering with the VFX Supervisor, Character Supervisor and CG Supervisor, ensuring the direction is carried out on schedule and within budget.Skydance Animation UK requires employees provide UK right to work documentation at the start of employment.Responsibilities- Oversees and reviews the CFX work of a team of CFX artists, ensuring the artistic brief and guidelines from the Production Designer, VFX Supervisor and Character Supervisor are met for the assigned project.
- Communicate creative concept to the CFX team, supervise the quality of the work and, working closely with production, of the fulfillment of deadlines.
- Guide artistically the look of grooming in CFX prior to reviewing with Chars Supe, VFX Sup and Production Designer/Director, in coordination with the Shading Supervisor.
- Filters work before presenting it to the VFX Supervisor/Art Director/Director for approval.
- Keeps up on current artistic methodologies and on technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company.
- Defines the workflows and techniques moreappropriate for each challenge, including grooming, cloth rigs, fat/skin setups, feathers, etc.
- Follows up and coordinate with CG Sup and Ramp;D new needs in development for the upcoming challenges.
- Acts as the primarily contact person and is responsible of the department.
- Collaborates and keeps a fluid communication with other departments.
- Assigns the work to each team member, according to his or her skills set.
- Gives guidance to the team, supervises the quality of the work, and works closely with production to complete deadlines.
- Partners with TA to source and recruit the best talent in the industry.
- Mentors potential up-and-coming artists to guide them in their career paths.
- Acts as a company ambassador utilizing his/her extensive network in the industry, and plays a key role in selling the studio as a first-class place of work, maintaining ongoing relationships with key industry players, contributing to Skydance’sreputation.
Requirements- 8+ years in VFX or animation industries.
- 4+ years of experience as Lead in the animation industry.
- A strong creative background as proven leader in setting direction for a production and for inspiring and motivating production staff.
- Extensive knowledge of procedural systems for technical animation on characters.
- Experience with xGen, Yeti, Shaveamp;Haircut or other grooming and simulation systems.
- Experience with nCloth, Qualoth, Marvellous Designer.
- Experience with Houdini or Maya and knowledge of Arnold and shading.
- Experience building pipelines.
- Advanced English level
- Spanish oral and written, is desirable.
