Job Description
Encodia is a proteomics platform company developing a new generation of single-molecule protein analysis tools. Our goal is to make proteome analysis easy and ubiquitous by converting peptide sequences into DNA barcode libraries that can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at scale.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist with expertise in method development for peptide synthesis and analysis of peptides and small molecules. This position will be part of Core Services with the opportunity to collaborate with multiple teams within the organization, developing synthesis methods, performing synthesis and characterization of purified peptides, and effectively communicating findings. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Ramp;D and production operations, specifically focusing on solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), bioconjugation strategies, preparative and analytical HPLC, and LC-MS analysis. The ideal candidate should demonstrate innovation and initiative in designing experiments for new chemical reactivities, possess strong troubleshooting skills for reactions and analytical methods, and have a strong background in chemistry.
Requirements
Your Responsibilities
- Execute the development and production of synthetic peptides.
- Manage inventory and multiple deliverables, and communicate with key stakeholders about project delivery timelines.
- Ensure product integrity and quality through the use of analytical tools, analyzing experimental data, and tracking of QC data.
- Maintain and proactively troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation including peptide synthesizer, preparative HPLC, and LC-MS in dialogue with supervisor.
- Maintaining a detailed lab notebook and assisting with SOP.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues through oral and written reports.
- Actively track meaningful metrics and maintain dashboards.
- Manage tasks and complete assigned projects within given timelines.
What You Bring to This Role
- BS with 5+ years or MS with 2+ years of industry experience in chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field.
- High proficiency with solid-phase peptide synthesis, preparative-scale HPLC peptide purification, and analytical characterization of peptides using LC-MS.
- A quick learner capable of independent lab work with strong written and verbal communication skills to illustrate scientific strategy and analytical results at the team and department level.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment as a motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, detail-oriented, and organized individual.
- Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization and take products and processes to the commercialization-ready level.
Highly Desirable
- Familiarity with the Atlassian suite is a plus.

Compensation: $69,000 - $121,500/year depending on role hired as. While compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
