As a Payroll Manager with JDK Management Company, you'll be responsible for managing a team of Payroll Specialists who are responsible for accurately processing the company’s payroll in a timely manner, including hourly and salary employees, bonus payrolls, garnishments, deductions, and payroll taxes. In this role, you are the liaison between Human Resources, Field Operations, Accounting, and Payroll to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and reporting while complying with federal, state, and local regulations. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.


Responsibilities
  • Manage and process accurate and timely payroll for multiple operating companies (weekly, biweekly, and off-cycle runs).
  • Accountable for timely and accurate wage attachments and garnishments.
  • Accountable for preparing audit reporting by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and other wages.
  • Contributes, researches, and resolves complex employee tax issues to ensure compliance with accurate tax withholding and quarterly/ annual tax filings.
  • Identifies and resolves escalated payroll issues, analyzing information, and assisting in their resolution by exercising independent judgment and a high level of confidentiality
  • Delegating the execution of changes in payroll processes to standardize and simplify payroll processing.
  • Retrieving, analyzing, and summarizing data for analysis and reporting for delivery to leadership business partners.
  • Exercising learning agility by illustrating technical adaptability, the ability to learn new systems and processes, while being able to train others on your learned knowledge
  • Maintains pay rate data in the payroll system.
  • Stays abreast of federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, including best practices.
  • Develop and implement measurable standards/metrics to assess accuracy.
  • Supports the PTO plan design and monitors plan issues for correction.
  • Select, train, develop, and assess individual and team performance and provide precise and timely feedback.
  • Leading and participating in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Assists with other duties as outlined by the Director.

Position Type
  • This is a full-time, exempt, benefit-eligible position.
  • This position does have supervisory responsibilities.
  • This is a hybrid position offering both remote and on-site work. Occasional on-site visits are required, as needed.
  • Regular hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Admin, or other appropriate field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of full life cycle payroll management process experience in a multi-state organization is required.
  • 5+ years of experience using a complex HRIS for a multi-state employer is required; UKG experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office is required.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information, communicate with all levels of management, adhere to strict deadlines, attention to detail/accuracy, and have solid analytical skills are required.
