Position Summary:

The PrePass Product amp; Systems Engineer will apply a broad and in-depth working knowledge of site construction and electronics to a wide variety of assignments through the application of technical concepts, practices, and procedures. This position covers the Southwestern division that encompasses Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and parts of Texas The successful incumbent generally will be required to work closely with construction crews and state roadway engineers to design site layouts, test system networks, and RF communications. Also, they may be required to assist in obtaining necessary permits and contracts necessary to begin construction. This individual will be required to work under tight deadlines, and operates independently.

What We Want You to Do
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and/or network operating problems. Use basic and specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze difficulties.
  • Work with roadway contractors and state permitting offices on construction projects.
  • Use C.A.D. as well technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of major road closures.
  • Take appropriate corrective action, interfacing with vendor, carrier, client and staff as necessary.
  • Use standard hand and power tools and technical manuals. (May work with multiple vendors, manufacturers, etc.).
  • Maintain work order documentation, technical schematics and diagrams.
  • Work with appropriate States, vendors and customers to obtain necessary permits.
  • Obtain contracts and Insurance certificates from sub-contractor.
  • Work with Engineering and Software teams to diagnose, test and find potential opportunities for better performance or cost savings of system design of build specifications.
  • Required travel: 50% domestic travel and 50% administrative/office work.
Who You Are
  • Minimum of 2 years of service technician experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years progressively responsible experience, demonstrating in-depth working familiarity with a broad range of roadways and their construction.
  • Basic knowledge of the (M.U.T.C.D.) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
  • Strong demonstrated analytical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Basic P.C. and C.A.D. literacy.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and appreciation of role as representative.
  • Maturity of judgment under pressure/ability to diagnose level of user need and to escalate problems without delay to appropriate levels for resolution.
  • Considerable client and end-user interface by phone and/or in-person necessitates good (clear) verbal communication skills and credible customer presence (appearance, attitude amp; demeanor).
  • Flexibility and the ability to operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Commitment to quality and personal ethics.
  • Ability to work independently, but as part of team concept.
  • Construction management and highway construction management a plus.
  • Weigh in Motion Scale experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Frequently work in an outdoor environment, and may include considerable bending, stooping, crawling and lifting (40-60 lbs.); regular use of testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Quick-reaction/customer-focused team environment.
  • Respond to maintenance issues at sites in the US.
  • Must be currently eligible to work in the United States
  • Must consent to and successfully clear all required pre-employment screenings (background and substance abuse).
