Senior Director of Individual Giving

Salary Range: $127,425 - $135,061

Your Impact
The Senior Director of Individual Giving plays a critical role on Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco’s Fund Development team, developing strategies for and securing annual and sustained support from individual donors. HGSF currently raises approximately $4M from generous individual donors. It is an inspiring and impactful time to join the HGSF team and support our efforts to build 250 new affordable homes by 2027 in San Francisco, Marin, and San Mateo counties.

In addition, this position plays a significant role supporting HGSF’s Comprehensive Capital Campaign. HGSF’s goal is to raise $100M by June 30, 2027, and the organization has already secured $66M toward this goal. With the campaign and through the generous support of donors, HGSF will double its production of affordable homeownership opportunities. Under the direction of the Vice President of Development, this position maintains and oversees strategy for all individual donors at all donor levels in addition to supervising staff supporting individual philanthropy.

Primary Responsibilities

Major Donor and Prospect Cultivation, Solicitation and Stewardship: (55%)

  • In collaboration with CEO, VP Development, and Major Gifts amp; Planned Giving Officer, develop strategies and execute programs for major donors and prospects, including creating and updating staff portfolios of major donors and major donor prospects (individuals currently giving or capable of giving $10,000 and above annually).
  • Personally manage portfolio of 75 - 100 major donors and prospects to deliver revenue goals.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of personalized solicitation plans for major donors/prospects with a focus on increasing the number of major gift donors and upgrading gifts from current donors.
  • Partner with team to identify prospective donors and move into staff portfolios, utilizing wealth screening information, other research, and networks of existing donors and key connectors to.
  • Actively work in partnership with VP Development on Comprehensive Campaign planning and strategy to achieve $100M overall goal by June 30, 2027.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a keen sense of curiosity for prospects and donors, seek to crack the code on what compels each donor to give substantially by asking the right questions and be able to personally adapt as needed to meet the interests of prospects and donors.
  • Compassionately articulate the Habitat GSF story, mission, and impact.
  • Close complex gift agreements for Annual Giving, Comprehensive Campaign, and Planned Gifts.
  • Work directly with Board members, Former Board members, and donors who collaborate with us as fundraising volunteers. Provide strategies, plans, and materials to support their efforts to cultivate and solicit prospects/donors on our behalf.
  • Partner with VP Development to prepare for quarterly Fund Development Board Committee meetings as well as attend and actively participate in the meetings when relevant.
  • Plan, facilitate, conduct, and follow-up on face-to-face individual and/or small group donor meetings/events to strengthen engagement with the individuals. Work with the Events Manager to complete successful stewardship and fundraising events.

Team Leadership and Supervision (25%)

  • Supervise staff supporting individual philanthropy.
  • Support direct reports’ professional growth and achievement of their annual revenue goals.
  • Inspire collaboration to build and strengthen fundraising programs and campaigns.

Individual Giving Planning and Information Management (15%)

  • Develop both long- and short-term operational plans to strengthen, grow, and track the progress of all aspects of individual giving toward annual and multi-year revenue goals.
  • Utilize Salesforce to track prospects, donations, moves management, and donor engagement.
  • Provide accurate and timely (at least monthly) activity and pipeline reports and revenue forecasts.
  • Partner with marketing, programs, finance, and construction staff to develop compelling written materials, supporting assets, and impact statements that compel donors and prospects to engage and act.
