Job Description:
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) Force-on-Force Training Systems-Next (FoFTS-Next) program will provide the training tools needed to prepare Marines for any contingency, anywhere.
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to support the FoFTS-Next program. The Network Engineer executes the system configuration, system set up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the Communication amp; Exercise Control systems. The Network Engineer is a pivotal role within the program, as they are responsible for overall configuration management and maintenance of the communication/network system. The Network Engineer continuously troubleshoots and in case of failure, repairs the communication equipment during a training event.

Responsibilities Include:
Pre-Exercise/Deployment
- Conducts system preparation to include communication network system configuration, documentation, system allocation and tests.
- Engages and informs the Support team and Site Leadership team prior to deployment of technical requirements, status, and any technical issues.
- Conducts preventative maintenance and services on the communication network and supporting equipment, to include the Mobile C2, Mobile Network Node, Portable Network Node, and Fixed Antennas.
- Ensures that frequency clearances, security clearances etc. are obtained.
- Set up, configure, and test the communication network on in the fixed C2, mobile C2, mobile network nodes, and portable network nodes.
- In support of the Operation Officer/ Site Lead, plans, resources, and leads the technical network/communication support to all phases of an exercise.
- Works with the Operations officer to build and execute the established communications plan for each exercise.
- Establishes and maintains continuous area communications network (DAN and microwave backbone) to ExCons.
- Conducts troubleshooting and initiates corrective actions to ensure that contractual requirements are met.
- Establishes and sustains a safe and secure working environment within Communication and ExCon. (Deployment to Extraction).
- Assists with the compilation of After-Action Review (AAR) data and raw material for the customer Take Home Package.
- Tests and ensures that AAR terminals and MCTIS System Analyst terminals are in a working state.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic test equipment to analyze system performance.
- Identify degraded system performance and implement improvements.
- Verifies mapping and annotates in ExCon any control measures imposed by the customer.
- Designs buildings on map using Building Set Up tool and transposes any 3D buildings into relevant exercises.
- Manages, de-confliction, and supervises the movement of communications nodes in support of exercise activity.
- Maintains a record of events and actions of any issues relating to operation of ExCon and Communications systems for follow-up post deployment.
- Is responsible for the first line maintenance and repair of the pool of communications and ExCon equipment.
- Reports all technical issues as part of the Post Exercise Report and follows up actions in line with NCR procedures.
- Ensures that the system is in a clean and proper working condition at the close of any event.
- Suggests recommended preventive/corrective maintenance activities to the Technical Support Leader.
- If needed, performs re-configuration of systems after exercise.
- Ensures all Communication and ExCon equipment is correctly accounted for, maintained, and repaired or replaced in co-ordination with Site Leads.
- Maintains a risk register of all mission critical equipment and inform the Site Lead if damages or deficiencies could affect training delivery.
- Keeps up to date with new technology and operating procedures.
- Is prepared to support any training, exercise, maintenance, and marketing events.
- Contributes to internal and external program meetings such as Progress Meetings (PMs) with customers if required.
- Conducts technical training for all staff when required.
- Produces/update technical Working Instructions (WI/SOP) and assists with the production of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project
- Contributes to the adoption of new approaches to improve overall quality, reliability, and speed of implementation.
- Attend training in the CONUS or OCONUS as required.
