Position Summary: The Gallery Assistant provides administrative support and collaborates on various projects and exhibitions. They are also responsible for opening and closing the gallery, attending to the space, assisting visitors, and processing sales.
1. Greeting visitors in a welcoming manner
2. Supporting the gallery as an inclusive community space
3. Sharing information about the exhibits, artists, gift shop, and sales
4. Monitoring exhibition and gift shop
5. Conducting sales and documentation
6. Maintaining good communication with staff
7. Assisting with communications (social media, e-newsletter, etc)
8. Organizing the gift shop inventory and upkeep
9. Maintaining cleanliness of the gallery, gift shop, and studio
10. Assisting with exhibition installation and events as assigned
11. Assisting with website
12. Monitoring safety conditions
13. Assist with other duties as needed at the request of the Director of Arts Development
Requirements
Qualifications:
Excellent customer service skills, strong attention to detail, is dependable (must commit to Saturdays and Sundays) and ability to work with a variety of people with varying communication skills is required. Artistic or creative background is required. Proficient in communications related tasks. Experience with Squarespace, Square, and WIX is a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the terms set by our insurance carrier. Must pass a DHS background check and other criminal background checks as determined by MSS.
Benefits
Competitive pay, benefits, and bonuses. The starting wage for this position begins at $17/hr. The schedule is Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00am-4:00pm.
