Job Description

As a Junior CNC Machinist, you will play a crucial role in setting up and operating computerized numerical controlled machine tools to perform various machining operations on precision components within a work-cell environment. Proficiency in CNC machining will be essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the machining process.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and follow process sheets, blueprints, setup sheets, setup cards, machine status boards, and verbal/written instructions.
  • Install or re-cut chuck jaws as required, secure tooling in machine turrets, and utilize hand tools and manual machines as needed for tasks.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Set up and verify preset gauges for proper calibration, inspect own work for quality and quantity standards, and complete required documentation.
  • Operate multiple machines concurrently, if required, and enter data accurately into the ERP system.
  • Provide support for continuous improvement and participate in RBS (Root Cause and Corrective Action) activities.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience and familiarity with machining principles and methods for computer numerical controlled machine tools.
  • Previous experience and demonstrated proficiency in operating CNC lathe, CNC mill machines, and resistance spot welder (for Seal only), with advanced knowledge and experience in setting up machines.
  • Strong mathematical skills for performing basic calculations.
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions in English.
  • External candidates will be required to pass a Machinist test to assess mechanical aptitude.
  • Moderate physical demands are required, involving inserting tooling, setting up work centers, inspecting workpieces, and making machine adjustments. This may be equivalent to continuously lifting or moving lightweight material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for an entire shift.
