The Component Engineering amp; Configuration Control Manager will integrate and develop engineering practices that meet business needs across the organization. You will work on process improvement activities and liaise with Engineering, Sourcing and Manufacturing to ensure emerging issues are resolved. In this role you will be providing technical direction to Egnieering.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities - Component Engineering:

  • Provide functional leadership and technical direction to your team - ensure adherence to regulatory, company and functional processes and procedures.
  • Assure technical quality, timely and on-budget completion of work with effective use of resources and responsiveness to customer / program needs.
  • Establish priorities for staff in your team that align with company and divisional objectives.
  • Manage resource supply and demand for your team, including recruitment of permanent and temporary staff, working with global sites and outsource of work packages to suppliers if needed.

  • Conduct appraisals, performance management, and participate in salary planning
  • Ensure collaboration with cross-functional teams and facilitate communication of technical and business information between groups.

Roles and Responsibilities - Document Control / Configuration Management:

Document Control and Configuration Manager will focus on change management, maintaining the different configurations in our ERP and PLM systems and record keeping. This position will be responsible for working with engineering department and other departments within the business unit, like Operations, Supply Chain, Product Support etc.

Responsibilities

  • Drive amp; Monitoring the Change Management process, conducting Change Review Board meetings and Change Implementation Board meetings.
  • Work with team to release and approve drawings and documents in the PLM system.
  • Responsible for maintaining Engineering Bill of Materials and Manufacturing Bill of Materials in ERP and PLM systems
  • Performing PLM and ERP audits
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Program Management, Engineering and Certification.
  • Provide supplemental support for engineers as needed.
  • Sees opportunities for improvement
  • Works autonomously with limited oversight from business leader
  • Influences others within the work area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices
  • Experience working in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.

Required Qualifications


Requirements

  • Qualification to degree level in an electronic/mechanical discipline.
  • Experience in electrical or electronic design and/or manufacturing, preferably within an aerospace context
  • Capable of operating in a multidiscipline environment.
  • Demonstrated technical problem solving and diagnosis skills.
  • Able to challenge existing processes, whilst contributing in a collaborative manner.
  • Able to strategically prioritize work.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills sharing critical information and speaking with candor.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills.
  • Experience including workflow driven methodologies
  • Experience with DO-178/254 processes
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, ICDs, and other technical documentation
  • Experience with hardware development, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality processes
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing with the broader engineering, business teams, vendors, partners, customers and the IT community


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a Component Engineer or Component Engineering Manager.
  • Experience of working with Global sites or external suppliers.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for hardware design and qualification of aerospace products.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Component Management and Anti-Counterfeit standards.
  • Formal management training with effective team building or project management ability
