Job Description

Position Description:

The Senior Category Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing and optimization of the supply chain of highly engineered components (low volume, high mix) with an annual spend of $30-40M. This category manager is responsible for strengthening key relationships with our supplier partners for the spend they manage. The candidate must have the ability to structure and present a compelling business proposition during negotiations to key suppliers. The category manager will keep apprised of the supply chain environment and modify key strategies appropriately to improve cost, delivery, service and quality through strategic sourcing programs such as risk mitigation programs, and supplier performance management.

Job Duties amp; Responsibilities:

  • Owns, forms amp; supports positive relationships with key suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drives bottom line results, improving service, risk, quality across managed spend categories.
  • Collects and refines data with the global team to drive thoughtful request for proposals and requests for quotations. Leads negotiation efforts and delivers compelling counteroffers to key supply relationships.
  • Identifies, develops, and leads the efforts to qualify high performing suppliers across the portfolio.
  • Develops long term thoughtful category strategies for global spend.
  • Develops long term optimization programs, includes plans that improve cost, risk mitigation, service and quality.
  • Develops supplier performance management and risk mitigation programs and related metrics across Sundyne’s spend portfolio.
  • Constructs amp; modifies contract language to reduce risk exposure of the business.
  • Leads, presents key improvements, developments across strategic sourcing portfolio in business reviews to leadership.
  • Understands ongoing trends across the globe and adjusts strategy through integrating needed agility into supply chain plans.
  • Forecasts inflation for responsible spend categories appropriately based on market intelligence.
  • Suggests improvement, refinement to end-to-end supply chain processes.

Skills amp; Abilities:

  • In depth understanding of strategic sourcing programs amp; practices.
  • Strong negotiations skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong relational skills, ability to structure a compelling business proposition.
  • Agile, adaptable to the rapidly changing supply chain environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle the pressure of the supply chain environment.
  • Approximately 30-40% travel (global and domestic).

Experiences:

  • Minimum of 7 years strategic sourcing experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Fluent in English.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • ISM/CPSM certification preferred.


  • Travel 30% - 40% domestic and international
  • Pump and/or Compressor manufacturers
