Job Description

The Senior Operations Manager for MLS Manufacturing is a pivotal leadership role providing continuous improvement initiatives and participating in financial planning and budget management for MLS Motor Controls amp; Packaged systems division. This position is responsible for working cross functionally while effectively and successfully managing labor, productivity, quality control, supply chain, budget and safety measures. This position reports to MLS Manufacturing Business Unit Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Management oversight of production, warehouse, and production planning teams

Essential Functions:

  • Production planning and supply chain management, implements and maintains a strong sales and operations planning process to ensure optimal inventory levels to meet forecast demand
  • Works with the Supply Chain group to optimize raw, MRO, sub-assembly, and finished goods inventory
  • Establishes process and metrics indicative of supply chain health and capacity planning, production lead-time determination etc.
  • Management oversight of the operations team directly and/or indirectly including oversight of operations, continuous improvement initiatives, warehouse activities, build center, customer service, logistics and quality control
  • Provides cross functional leadership including: supervising, planning, coordination and direction of production activities, ensuring maximum operating efficiency and product quality
  • Establish KPIs to drive continuous improvement, recognize gains in safety, efficiency, productivity and cost control while enabling business growth and ensuring excellent customer service
  • Improve the operational systems, processes, policies in order to support better management reporting, information flow, business process, organizational planning to provide feedback to the production, product marketing, and sales teams
  • Financially responsible for the analysis and budget performance of OPEX amp; CAPEX budgets
  • Fluent with Lean manufacturing tools and able to use them to engage employees and improve performance
  • Responsible for safety, health and environmental performance of operations as well as compliance to government regulations including EPA, OSHA and local authorities
  • Build, mentor, and guide the Operations team through people development plans, one on one interactions, and team communications
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of progressive operations experience with increased levels of responsibility required, of which 2-3 years are in a similar level position
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems in a manufacturing and distribution environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate to advanced Excel, and computer skills
  • Experience creating, implementing, and monitoring operations processes
  • Hands-on experience creating and monitoring functional KPIs, including the ability to create reports, mine data from an ERP system, and present to Sr. Management
  • Experience implementing ERP and other operational systems preferred

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Operations, required
  • Master’s Degree, preferred
  • Industry certifications and/or training (APICS, Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) preferred
