Job Description

Frontier Medicines is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Contractor Research Associate in the Chemical Biology team. The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent working knowledge of cell biology and high-throughput screening techniques. This position requires working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced drug-hunting environment.

Requirements

What will you be doing?

  • Cell culture for plate-based screening including drug-treatment and viability assessment
  • Assist with generating and maintain mammalian cell lines for cell-based assays
  • Perform transient transfection in mammalian cell lines for cell-based assays
  • Western blotting, Luciferase assays and other standard molecular biology techniques
  • Assist with developing and validating experimental protocols for hit-finding, hit-to-lead and lead optimization
  • Critically analyze, interpret and present data to the team
  • Assist with QC of internal cell line bank (STR, mycoplasma testing, passage number etc.)
  • Maintain a clear, detailed electronic laboratory notebook to document all experiments and findings.

What are we looking for?

Required

  • BS or MS in a biological science (molecular biology, cellular biology or related discipline)
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture and development of cell-based assays
  • Expertise with a variety of laboratory techniques such as western blots, immunofluorescence, qPCR, luciferase assays
  • Excellent communication, organization, and technical writing skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to learn new skills
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Experience with molecular cloning and plasmid design.
  • Experience with automated lab equipment.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of accomplishments via presentations or publications in biology.

  • This is a contractor role, not an employee position.
  • The selected candidate will operate under a 1099 status.
  • Compensation will be provided as per the terms outlined in the contract agreement.
