Job Description

Summary

We are currently looking for driven, motivated, and accountable individuals to augment our installation teams with design and implementation experience. The Network Engineer II will support a variety of projects from larger processing facilities to medium retail projects, upgrading existing Wi-Fi environments to increase coverage density and efficacy utilizing customer provided KPI targets. Individuals would be responsible for the upgraded system network design and lead the cutover process from any existing coverage scheme to the designed and configured replacement. Individuals may need to lead troubleshooting as needed during the cutover process. Individuals would be
responsible for AP to controller integration and ensuring all switching and networking architecture is
satisfactory or upgraded to match the networking demands of the new coverage scheme.
Responsibilities would also include ensuring customer security needs are maintained as well as providing
updates or changes to meet modern Wi-Fi and LAN security practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct WiFi/RF surveys with Ekahau hardware and software and be able to assess authorized
    equipment coverage as well as identify RFI or rouge devices.
  • Utilize Ekahau software to provide and evaluate Wi-Fi coverage models based on customer KPIs
    and referencing survey data provided by field teams.
  • Develop mapping of AP layout to existing IDF locations ensuring network performance integrity
    on existing network architecture or providing solutions if upgrades are needed.
  • Travel to locations around the United States and perform and lead the configuration of all new
    and or legacy network elements from APs to switches, controllers, routers, and firewalls.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations for enterprise network architecture to ensure the
    expected latency and bandwidth for Wi-Fi performance.
  • Provide documentation to illustrate cutover procedures that ensure minimal network
    downtime.
  • Communicate with survey and installation teams to ensure designs are implemented as
    expected and provide constructive feedback, guidance, and corrections.
  • Provide hand-offs to internal or external partners for the upkeep and maintenance of newly
    integrated Wi-Fi networks.
  • Meet project goals while minding costs and timeline considerations.

Requirements

In-depth experience on the configuration of network hardware including but not limited to the following vendors:

  • Cisco routers: Switches, firewalls, controllers, access points
  • Juniper: access points and switches
  • Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN networking design and implementation solutions utilizing standards such as TCP/IP and IP networks utilizing VPNs
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 network architectural design and engineering background and experience (LAN and Firewall) in a large enterprise network environment
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Juniper Mist and Cisco Prime infrastructure management tools
  • Fundamental knowledge of security protocols and authentication
  • Ability to pass a Moderate Risk Background Investigation that includes drug testing and fingerprinting
  • Quick learner with the ability to work with very little oversight beyond high-level direction.
