The Collection Specialist position is responsible for the control, documentation, resolution and follow up of various delinquent consumer and mortgage loans.
This position will require a minimum of 3 days per week on-site at our Chelmsford, MA office and other days will be flexible to work off-site. #LI-Hybrid
- Contact members to determine the reason for past-due accounts or contacting accounts post charge-off
- Process charge-offs on variety of loan products
- Complete payments on active and charged off accounts
- Respond to account inquiries from internal and external members
- Assist with bankruptcy processing and/or tracking
- Process transactions and balancing accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Follow up with correspondence or calls on delinquent/charged off loan accounts until resolution, recommend actions to be taken.
- Document all work (i.e., phone calls, promises to pay, updates, requests in our system, the day the action occurs,
- Maintain accurate records on all accounts. Ensure that future followupdates are maintained on all accounts,
- Provide maximum coverage of their account queue assignment and guarantee that there are no accounts with follow up dates that have passed.
- Work out and negotiate payment plans with members when necessary.
Requirements
- 3 years of collections experience is required
- Maintain key performance metrics at required levels
- Maintain delinquency and repossessions at prescribed levels
- Complete phone calls to meet required metric standards
- Ability to make appropriate decisions related to moving forward with repossession of vehicle and acceptable payment arrangements
- Some knowledge of all requirements for repossessions, contract extensions, and contract rewrites
- Some knowledge of all consumer and real estate loans
- Ability to make recommendations to management on unique collections cases
- Ability to skip trace an account
- Ability to work 1-2 Saturdays per month (8am-12pm)
- Ability to work one evening shift per week (10am - 7pm)
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Access and other reporting systems
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines with excellent follow through skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
