Project Accountant
Office Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504
Position Classification: Full-Time Regular
Rockford Construction is looking for a Project Accountant to perform accounting tasks for the maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions for assigned construction projects and manage special projects. You will work closely with the Rockford Construction management team to execute company objectives. Some daily tasks include working with sworn statement, purchase orders, contracts, corresponding via phone/email to trade contractors and vendors.

What Will I Do?
- Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Process and send out confirmations.
- Facilitate vendor discount payments.
- Serve as contact for Accounts Payable problem payables.
- Scan invoices received from vendors and prepare for Project Manager’s approval.
- Enter invoices into accounting software prior to approval being obtained.
- Collect and check sworn statements and tiered lien waivers from subcontractors.
- Answer phone calls / emails from vendors.
- Verify all required documentation is received prior to paying vendors.
- Investigate invoices on hold issues.
- Cut checks using accounting software.
- Create Contracts, Purchase Orders, Change Orders.
- Serve as back-up to team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associates degree in accounting or minimum three years of accounts payable experience. Bachelors preferred.
- Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
- Must possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skill.
- Have a working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Accounting software knowledge required. Timberline experience preferred.
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented.
