Barbaricum is seeking a Communications Specialist to plan, develop and implement communication campaigns to build awareness, promote and educate the work being done in support of The DoD Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) Education and Workforce Development (EWD) team, under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. This individual will work with DoD/DoD CTO, public affairs team and/or ManTech team to develop social content that supports the EWD efforts. This will include developing content for partners/stakeholders to share through digital channels and providing writing and editing expertise for a variety of documents in support of communication activities.This position is remote with occasional required on-site meetings in the Washington, DC area.Responsibilities
  • Recommend and manage an integrated approach to content marketing, which will include developing compelling content for the right audience and the right channel to impact stated objectives.
  • Work with DoD ManTech to measure and report on content performance against KPIs, recommending adjustments as needed to increase search engine optimization (SEO), expand reach and attract the right audiences.
  • Conduct research on outreach opportunities and engagement recommendations, including development and maintenance of conferences, events, podcasts, and calendars
  • Assist with design and production of outreach materials such as brochures, conference booths, videos, and webinars
  • Maintain a regular newsletter
  • Provide content management support, using AFPIMS to regularly upload content and maintain website functionality over time
  • Assist with development of social media posts, releases, articles, talking points and presentations for leadership engagements
  • Conduct regular media monitoring and analysis using open-source tools such as Meltwater
  • Develop monthly status reports on the program’s activities.
  • Direct, manage, and ensure on-time completion of M-EWD deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required
  • Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience OR a Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • 5+ years of relevant communications experience
  • Excellent open-source research skills and ability to organize resources and create forward planning for outreach and engagements
  • Ability to conduct research, gather data, assess information, interpret results,and write reports analyzing media coverage
  • Strong writing and editing skills to produce outreach content and media analysis reports with minimal formatting or grammar errors
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Reliable and able to work under tight deadlines for product submission
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
