About the Role
TOMIS is looking for an experienced Front End Engineer to join our Engineering Team. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of Typescript, React, JavaScript tooling, modern browser APIs, and CSS.
At TOMIS you will work on building entirely new products/features as well as maintain and improve existing products/features. We are looking for someone who is extremely detail oriented and skilled in their craft. We are not looking for entry-level developers, but rather an experienced, reliable engineer that can excel autonomously when given a task big or small. TOMIS has an early-stage business culture. We move fast, pivot constantly, and work hard.
This is an incredibly opportune time to join TOMIS as there is immense room for growth. We are a small engineering team, which means that you’ll be able to contribute in a meaningful way from day one. You will have the opportunity to develop brand-new features and your scope of work will not be limited to specific projects. You will learn the entire TOMIS tech stack and you will work on all major features.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone extremely detail-oriented and has a passion for design. A successful candidate enjoys collaborating with team members and coming up with creative solutions, but also thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment and has the confidence to work independently. We are building a motivated team that shares our goals and doesn’t need micro-managing or a strict schedule. TOMIS is based in Missoula, Montana, but we are open to remote work for the right candidate.
Requirements
- 2 - 5 years of professional JavaScript experience
- 2+ years of React experience, and knowledge of modern React fetching libraries and best practices, such as ReactQuery
- 1+ year of TypeScript experience
- Expert level CSS skills, including popular css-in-js libraries such as styled-components
- Expert level skills in building modular UI components in React
- Optimize components for maximum performance and compatibility across devices and browsers
- Experience with UI/UX tools, such as Figma
- Experience using Git on a team
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- React Native experience strongly preferred
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)
- Experience with project management tools, such as Jira
- Experience building APIs in Node.js
- Google Cloud experience, especially Firebase
- Previous SaaS experience
- Lives in or within drivable distance to Missoula, MT
