Job Description

DroneUp is looking for a Corporate Controller to join our Finance team. The Controller will manage a team of Accounting Professionals tasked with providing comprehensive financial updates to senior management, evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points to guide financial decisions and developing, implementing, and maintaining financial controls and guidelines to assure that we safeguard the company's assets.


Responsibilities
  • Provide ownership of the accounting ledger and oversee month-end close responsibilities for the company, assuring a 10 day closing process for the P amp; L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
  • Assure reporting deadlines are achieved in compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assure that the accounts payable function is executed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Oversee the Fixed asset process, budget, project approval, project tracking, and capitalization of completed projects
  • Implement consistent accounting policies and procedures across federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
  • Manage all external audits: 401K, annual, workers compensation, sales tax, insurance, and banking.
  • Assure all tax requirements are being achieved, inclusive of 1099’s sales tax, property tax, annual reporting, business licenses, etc.
  • Manage and work with accounting staff to train and inspire
  • Manage inter-company processes to assure all subsidiaries have sufficient cash to conduct business and assure the recording and reconciliation of corresponding balance sheet accounts to properly present all legal entities financial positions
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, receipt of revenue, COGS and organizational budgets versus actual expenditures
  • Assure the accounting team reviews all balance sheet account reconciliations with the CFO every quarter
  • Establish financial and operating benchmarks in conjunction with CFO
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field required
  • Advanced degree in Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • CPA required
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Candidates with large accounting firm experience required
  • Position must be located in Virginia Beach, VA (Corporate)
