Job Summary:

The Shipping amp; Receiving Clerk is responsible for efficiently managing the movement of goods within a warehouse or distribution center. This role involves receiving incoming shipments, inspecting them for accuracy and quality, and properly storing them. Additionally, the Shipping amp; Receiving Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate documentation, and coordinating with carriers for timely delivery. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the flow of products to and from the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Receiving:

Receive incoming shipments, verifying the accuracy of the order against packing slips or purchase orders.

Inspect received goods for damage, quantity, and quality.

Record and report any discrepancies or damages to the appropriate department or supplier.

Sort and organize incoming products for efficient storage and retrieval.

Inventory Management:

Maintain accurate inventory records by updating computerized inventory systems or spreadsheets.

Label, tag, or mark received products with identification codes for easy tracking.

Monitor inventory levels and report low stock or replenishment needs to the appropriate personnel.

Storage and Organization:

Safely store received goods in designated storage areas, taking into account factors like product type, size, and storage requirements.

Utilize proper storage methods to ensure product integrity and prevent damage.

Implement a first-in, first-out (FIFO) system to manage perishable items effectively.

Shipping:

Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling products following established procedures.

Verify shipping documents, including bills of lading and shipping labels, for accuracy.

Arrange transportation with carriers, scheduling pick-ups and deliveries.

Documentation:

Generate shipping and receiving reports, maintaining accurate records of all transactions.

Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, such as hazardous materials handling and shipping regulations.

Complete and file all necessary paperwork, including customs documentation for international shipments.

Communication:

Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, production, and customer service, to coordinate the movement of goods.

Communicate with carriers and drivers to facilitate smooth pickups and deliveries.

Resolve any shipping or receiving issues promptly and professionally.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices to prevent accidents and injuries in the warehouse.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as relevant industry regulations.

The Shipping amp; Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of an organization's supply chain operations. They are responsible for ensuring that products are received, stored, and shipped in a timely and organized manner while adhering to all safety and compliance standards.

Pay: $21/hour

Requirements


2nd shift hours: 2:00pm-10:30pm

Available to work on weekends.

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.

Previous experience in shipping and receiving or a related field is preferred.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.

Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge of shipping regulations and safety standards.

Ability to operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment (if required).

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
