Job Description

NeueHouse currently operates across four different, but equally iconic, properties in New York City and Los Angeles:

  • Our Madison Square (MSQ) House is situated in New York’s iconic Flatiron District, was previously home for Tepper Galleries, a well-known Manhattan auction house for international artists and collectors in the 1930s and neighbors the 69th Regiment Armory where the first International Exhibition of Modern Art was held.
  • Our Hollywood House (HWD), which sits on Sunset Boulevard, is one of LA’s most celebrated buildings and occupies the original CBS Studio (the world’s first structure built intentionally for broadcast). Here genre- defining artists from Orson Wells and Lucille Ball to Janis Joplin, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan built their legacy.
  • Our Venice Beach House (VB) was once the creative home to some of the most influential creative luminaries in art and entertainment including Hal Ashby, Oliver Stone, and David Hockney, NeueHouse Venice Beach is a new work, social, and cultural hub for the Venice creative community.

The Role

The Line Cook drives culinary excellence at NeueHouse MSQ where there is a renewed focus on Famp;B programs. Reporting to the Executive Chef of MSQ, the Line Cook will execute food production and service while establishing and maintaining standards of operation in the areas of food quality, timeliness of food, cleanliness, and maintenance for all NeueHouse Members amp; guests, as well as private and special event services on a regular basis.

NeueHouse’s team is lean and runs with a mindset of no task is too small. The Line Cook should expect to manage through ambiguity and support all NeueHouse departments to enhance member experience while promoting and marketing the brand authentically.

Requirements

Passionate about the impact of a strong Famp;B program and the kitchen’s role in delivering on that impact, the Line Cook creates and delivers our NeueHouse menu with a consistent excellence such that every NeueHouse Member, Guest, and teammate comes to believe in magic on the plate. The role requires someone who is ready to:

  • Represent the culinary teams and program and contributes to the overall success of the day-to-day operations of NeueHouse Madison Square kitchen.
  • Ensure kitchen operations can run smoothly and efficiently with a mind toward Member amp; Guest, as well as employee, experience.
  • Prepares and cooks dishes consistently with our standard cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
  • Portion specifications in accordance with consumer tastes, nutritional needs, product specifications, ease of preparation and established procedures
  • Evaluates food products to assure that quality standards are consistently attained
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and compliance with all Health amp; Safety and company Employment policies/service procedures/standards as these relate to the kitchen and culinary team.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation including tables, shelves, grills, range, storage containers, refrigeration equipment.
  • Closes the kitchen properly according to closing checklist for kitchen stations.
  • Prepared to outline policies, procedures, and systems to improve our business, service, retention, and magic of the NeueHouse experience.

We are looking to connect with candidates who bring:

  • 2-4 years of experience in concept-driven kitchens.
  • Ability to operate industrial machinery and carry loads up to 50 lbs
  • Effective application of culinary skills in real-life cooking; knowledge of maximum possible dishes from all over the globe.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in quality recipe development and menu placement.
  • Maintain an unmatched service focus for Members and Guests by approaching with the needs of NH members in mind.
  • Training in culinary programs registered under the State policies; hands-on practice and certification.
  • Certification by the American Culinary Federation [ACF] or the attainment of the Certified Culinary Administrator certification
  • Experience working in member/exclusive locations, a plus.
