ABOUT CITYSQUARE | NEIGHBOR SUPPORT SERVICES

CitySquare is a nonprofit based in Dallas, Texas that exists to fight the causes and effects of poverty through service, advocacy and friendship. For over thirty years, CitySquare has grown to be one of the most effective social services organizations in the city with multiple programs working together to address housing, hunger, health and hope. Working hand in hand with our neighbors - we do not have clients - we develop sustainable programming and partnerships that provide support and encouragement so that all can achieve their full potential. Following the Housing First philosophy, CitySquare’s Neighbor Support Services (NSS) department operates several programs to serve all neighbors by fostering hope through outreach, housing and supportive services to promote positive life changes. Programs included in NSS are: Destination Home, A Way Home, Homeless Outreach Team, and the Dallas Real Time Rapid Rehousing Program.

The NSS team is made up of a Program Director, Assistant Program Directors, Program Managers for each program, Lead/Clinical/Case Managers, Outreach Workers and Housing Specialist/Navigators to support the overall work of each program. Team members are passionate about working with neighbors experiencing homelessness while also being able to manage reporting requirements necessary to maintain grant funding, including accurate financial reporting and data entry. Team members effectively communicate through in-person meetings with fellow staff, interactions with neighbors, and communication with all stakeholders necessary to the vision of restoring hope for the thousands of neighbors living in poverty in our city.

POSITION SUMMARY

CitySquare’s Dallas Real Time Rapid Rehousing (DRTRR) program is a partnership that will work closely with Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance and other community agencies collaborating to end homelessness through the Dallas Real Time Rapid Rehousing Initiative (DRTRR) that aims to rehouse over 2,700 individuals experiencing homelessness by October 2023. The DRTRR initiative includes housing navigation services and has two rapid rehousing components: rapid rehousing through temporary subsidies and through permanent subsidies. CitySquare’s program component responsibility is to provide rapid rehousing case management services to individuals housed through permanent subsidies utilizing DRTRR Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHVs) who are chronically homeless, or who, through an in-depth assessment are determined to be unlikely to be able to sustain housing after one year.

The Case Manager will provide field-based case management using a Housing First and strengths-based approach to those individuals housed in CitySquare’s DRTRR program through Emergency Housing Vouchers. The Case Manager will use motivational interviewing to assist and support the participants in addressing the barriers and improving their financial circumstances to help maintain housing following a program exit. This position requires knowledge of housing first and understands that all neighbors are ready to be housed and will work to ensure neighbors remains housed as long as possible. This position also requires knowledge and experience in harm reduction, mental health, addictive disorders, and benefits eligibility. The Case Manager will provide support for neighbors, increase their social capital, assist with mainstream benefits, and provide referrals to established agencies, charities, and government programs. This position is responsible for helping participants maintain successful placements and provide ongoing support to those enrolled in the program. The primary goal is to assist our neighbors to live independently in their own apartment.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, or a related field, is preferred.

Experience: One (1) year experience in case management, experience with highly vulnerable populations, homeless population preferred. Experience working in housing programs preferred. Orientation to best practices for vulnerable populations, preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensed from an accredited university in social work preferred.

Additional Requirements: Excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Positive attitude, flexibility in a highly dynamic environment and able to handle crisis situations under pressure. Self-motivated with ability to take initiative and be resourceful. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks.
