Pay Range: $75,000 - $80,000/year

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Staff Accountant will handle accounting and financial operations of the Masonic Homes location at Union City, California (MHC). In addition, this position may provide financial analysis for special projects for any entity as directed by the Accounting Manager/Controller. Responsibilities include journal entries, account analysis, financial reports, financial research, accounts receivable amp; payable, financial audits, preparation of month end accruals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs all duties as assigned in a timely, accurate and professional manner
- Prepared monthly billing and other Accounts Receivable functions for all residents at MHC
- Back up for Union City Accounts Payable and Resident Banking
- Process cash receipts for MHC
- Prepares ACH for direct debits and deposits for MHC
- In conjunction with the Accounting Manager/Controller maintain the general ledger of the Masonic Homes at Union City, including preparation of journal entries to assure that all transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner
- Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of all account reconciliations
- Cross training with Acacia Creek AP and AR
- Assist with Residents' annual tax federal and state income tax returns - tracks and properly accounts for all tax refunds and payments
- Manage the Pension Process with the Accounting Manager
- Prepares bank accounts and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Assists with external annual audits-prepares documents and accounts schedule analysis.
- Primary support for Masonic Outreach Services Accounting, from AP to AR; processes stipend and Special Occurrence distribution
- Attend and participate in workshops, seminars and staff meetings as approved by Accounting Manager/Controller.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
- 4 -6 years of accounting or finance experience including all major functions (A/P, G/L, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Budgeting, Financial reporting, etc.).
- Supervision skills preferred.
- Computer skills including spreadsheet preparation, database management, and word processing (Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, and Word) and accounting software programs (General ledger, timekeeping and scheduling, Payroll and Health Care Management)
- Some nonprofit, health care or senior care experience helpful.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skill.
- Good communication and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Must be very well-organized and detail-oriented
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge and abilities listed, typically:
- BA/BS degree in accounting, business or finance, desired but not required.
