Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Location: Remote, working from home

Lap of Love is a national practice dedicated exclusively to in-home end of life care for pets. We believe all pets and their families deserve the most compassionate and supportive end of life experience. Our experienced veterinarians help pets and their families with quality of life assessments, pain and anxiety management, end of life consultations, and peaceful euthanasia in the comfort of their pet’s favorite place home.

Position Description

Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, headquartered in Lutz, FL, seeks to add a key member to its growing team by employing a new User Experience Designer.

Established in 2009, Lap of Love is the most trusted and most referred company in the veterinary end-of-life space. As the industry leader, we are at the forefront of this emerging field of veterinary medicine. Lap of Love is seeking a talented and experienced UI/UX Designer to join our software product development team. In this role, you will work closely with the Manager of Product Development, Product Managers, and System Architects to create the best user experience for our proprietary practice management software and platforms. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all elements of the user experience are optimized for improved usability and exceptional visual design. The successful candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and enjoy collaborating with others.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and System Architects to translate product requirements and user insights into intuitive, engaging designs and workflows that satisfy all needs of the business
  • Utilize design tools to create wireframes and prototypes around customer needs• Present design concepts and deliverables to key stakeholders, clearly communicating the rationale behind design decisions
  • Guide the broader team to implement UX design best practices and concepts
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and industry best practices to continually enhance the look and feel of our software
  • Conduct user testing and incorporate that feedback into proposed designs

Skills and Requirements:

A successful User Experience Designer will possess these attributes:

  • Ability to identify and solve problems, both technical and design-related
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently, adhering to defined timelines
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to engage confidently and professionally with key stakeholders and team members across multiple departments and levels
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with a drive to improve the user experience through innovation and user-centered design

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Operate a computer and type on a keyboard for prolonged periods of time of up to 8 hours per day
  • Quickly learn custom software and other programs, such as Sunshine (our proprietary software), GoTo Connect, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar, and Gmail
  • Access to reliable and secure internet
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient, client, and business information
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor, compassion for clients, control, and confidence in all aspects of the position
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt, think quickly, be decisive, and show strong initiative and self-determination
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX, Interaction Design, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of three years in a UI/UX Designer role
  • Experience with various design tools (Figma preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge about user interface patterns for mobile, web, and responsive design
  • Understanding of front-end development languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Background in project management and research

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
