Job Description
CS Energy is hiring a Chief Electrical Engineer in our Headquarters in Edison, NJ. The Chief Electrical Engineer will lead our Engineering staff as well as the engineering subcontractors, to design high-quality and efficient solar PV Power Plant systems. The Chief Engineer will play an integral and active role in helping CS Energy acquire new business and execute in-house projects. Responsibilities include solar energy system design and layout; interconnection design and equipment selection; energy production analysis; establishing and managing engineering subcontracts; engineering support during construction, evaluating future technologies; and developing internal intellectual property products and offerings.
The Chief Engineer should be a diligent engineer, effective communicator, and team player. The position will require superior cross-functional skills including close coordination with CS Energy's estimating, operations, and business development teams in addition to interfacing with customers and other project stakeholders with the end goal of providing a superior product in a fast-paced environment. - Lead, manage, train and mentor assigned engineering staff
- Establish engineering and design procedures in accordance with the EPC industry standards
- Develop detailed layouts and electrical design packages for solar PV systems that meet all contractual, code, and permitting requirements
- Provide value engineering solutions during development, proposal, pre-construction and construction phases
- Coordinate with civil and structural engineering firms to obtain detailed civil and structural design packages from third party vendors/firms that meet all contractual and permitting requirements
- Develop single-line and three-line diagrams with required electrical details for solar PV systems in accordance with NEC, IEEE, NESC, utility interconnection tariffs and requirements, and local AHJ as necessary
- Lead the project interconnection approval process as the primary point of contact with the interconnecting utilities from the application process through final design approval
- Attend meetings with clients, State and local permitting authorities, subcontractors, and vendors regarding engineering and technical issues related to the solar PV system
- Coordinate and obtain SCADA designs for solar PV systems from third party monitoring companies
- Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for engineering firms and contractors
- Coordinate electrical integration and interconnection of energy storage systems
- Mentor and train team members on project design, interconnection, and energy modelling
- Potential to lead the project pre-sales design and coordination process
Requirements
- B.S.E.E degree
- 10 or more years designing electrical power generation systems
- Experience in electrical interconnection design amp; coordination (MV amp; HV)
- Experience in high voltage substation design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP and/or other Power System Modeling Software
- Previous experience leading managing EOR's
- Previous experience coordinating with field operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional is an advantage
- PE License is preferred
- Proficiency in ETAP and or SKM power system analysis software is an advantage
- Ability to work in the office (hybrid schedule) and travel to project sites
