Job Description
Encodia is looking for an experienced and proactive Lab Operations professional to support our laboratories. This role involves responsibilities such as managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment, all while ensuring the laboratory operates efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp of laboratory workflows, equipment maintenance, and supply chain management to provide scientists and researchers with the essential resources for their experiments. Additionally, they will participate and contribute to the optimization of the laboratories for efficiency, utilization, and safety.
Requirements
Your principal responsibilities will include:
- Day-to-day support and management of the lab by independently managing the coordination of routine lab support including consumable ordering and restocking, lab cleanup, glassware washing, equipment maintenance and daily shipment deliveries.
- Responsible for lab equipment installations, service, repairs, calibrations and maintenance asset management system and documentation.
- Receive and organize all incoming shipments and resolve any discrepancies.
- Facilitates waste disposal with external vendors, conducts safety walk throughs and provides feedback on safety issues within the lab.
- Function as point-of contact between laboratory and building management, including responsibility for freezer and fridge monitoring and response, enforcing safety policies and PPE best practices.
- Ownership of the laboratory through proactive lab maintenance, organization and cleanliness of the lab including glass washing, autoclaving of labware and managing stock of common reagents and consumables.
- Oversee vendor relationships including quote requests, price comparisons, supplier and alternative supplier identification
- Other such matters that may be determined by Encodia’s management.
What you bring to this role:
- Required: Associate’s Degree
- Required: 2+ years of Biotech industry experience in a relevant role
- Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and knowledge of safe laboratory practices
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and carry out work duties with minimum supervision with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Customer service oriented and experience working with people from different functions, backgrounds, and levels of experience
- Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50lbs
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods as needed to complete tasks

Compensation: $21.50 - $37.00 per hour. While compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role
