Job Description

Firebrand helps startups crush their marketing goals. We are a specialist PR and marketing firm for tech startups. Based in San Francisco, Firebrand’s integrated public relations, content marketing, demand generation and growth marketing programs help startups outshine their competitors. Our experienced team combines domain expertise, marketing best-practice, operational efficiency and the x-factor to implement winning campaigns. Firebrand was named Boutique agency of the year 2023 from PRSA (Public Relations Society of America).

You can expect an entrepreneurial culture, to work directly with a senior team, to be strategic and hands-on, and to help build a fantastic firm. We have no politics, no bureaucracy, efficient systems and a supportive approach. We focus on great work, high levels of client service and expanding our skills.

We work with a roster of hand-picked startups that are leaders in their field and backed by prominent VCs including a16z, First Round, GV, Initialized, LightSpeed, Menlo Ventures and Unusual VC. Our clients are technology startups primarily with complex propositions that need clear positioning and messaging. At present, clients range from ‘deep tech’ data analytics, AI/ML, storage, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity to fintech, health tech and climate tech.

About the role

We’re looking for a Content Marketing Manager to develop and execute content strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and conversion for our B2B tech startup clients. Our fast-growing content marketing service needs an expert who feels comfortable leading accounts, making recommendations (and breaking things down for stakeholders who aren’t content experts), sharing best practices and benchmarks, conducting content audits, and executing the tactical elements of high-impact content marketing campaigns. This person will have a strong understanding of the B2B buying journey and how to engage target audiences at each stage, across a variety of channels. This person is also a problem-solver who can identify gaps in clients’ existing campaigns and optimize them for success.

A passion for all things content is a must and not just for the written word. This person will also understand how video, visual, audio, and interactive content all play a role in successful campaigns. Ideally, this person has supervised video and audio vendors in previous roles. Reporting to the Vice President of Content Marketing, we’re looking for a creative go-getter who can develop must-consume content for a variety of personas, who also understands the importance of data and feels comfortable analyzing reports in GA4 and CRMs. This person will also treat Firebrand’s marketing as a client and support efforts to grow our brand.

The role is part of a senior marketing team well-versed in content marketing, PR, and digital marketing. Most of our campaigns are integrated so you’ll get plenty of exposure to other disciplines. Other members of the team include marketing strategists, content developers, SEOs, graphic designers, and ad platform experts. We're not split into a classic agency structure with account management or creatives. Everyone works directly with our clients and well... we're all creative.

We expect you to have a proven track record of managing successful multi-channel content marketing campaigns involving websites, blogs, email, social media. The role will include developing and optimizing campaigns across a diverse portfolio of clients, defining and implementing best practices, participating in new business, performing comprehensive analysis, and handling day-to-day tactics.

Responsibilities

  • Client management -- work directly with clients on a daily basis advising on strategy, status, and performance of content marketing campaigns.
  • Audits -- analyze clients’ existing content marketing efforts, identify gaps and key opportunities, and build a recommended path forward.
  • Content strategy -- ability to strategize and execute campaigns from ideation to iteration.
  • Content creation develop content that aligns with clients’ value propositions and differentiators.
  • Lead nurturing -- develop and reinforce relationships with leads at every stage of the sales funnel by providing the information and answers they need to build trust, and maintain a connection until prospects are ready to make a purchase.
  • Multi-channel experience across a variety of channels (website, blog, email, social media) and formats (text, video, audio, visual, dynamic).
  • Reporting -- reporting primarily based on custom-built dashboards to show the impact of content marketing campaigns. This includes website metrics (GA4) all the way through to CRM metrics (primarily HubSpot).
  • Agency -- involved in new business prospecting and pitching; team management and collaboration; developing demand generatio
