Job Description

The role

  • Perform technical analysis of trade flows, the relation to supply, demand and inventory changes and the repercussions of shipping industry fundamentals;
  • Analyze the pricing realm, including oil prices and structure, arbitrage differentials, refining margins, freight costs, and recommend improvements to current processes, models and systems;
  • Work closely with market and data analyst colleagues in London, Singapore and Houston to build a complete view of the global oil and gas markets;
  • Identify the key implications and leading indicators of our data for our commodities and shipping clients;
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify and solve a variety of problems and clarify management objectives;
  • Assist with the creation of physical and financial trading use cases based on the predictive power of our flows forecasts;
  • Conduct market assessment as it relates to crude oil and refined products;
  • Provide customers with analytical support via conference calls, presentations and written reports;
  • Produce regular content on market/competitive trends and speak externally at conferences and to the media, providing thought-leading views on market trends;
  • Manage multiple projects, including analyzing project data and costs, preparing detailed project plans, evaluating progress and ensuring project completion within specified deadlines;
  • Understand clients’ requirements and assist them to make informed business and strategic decisions after evaluating and developing market analytical trading tools, dashboards, processes and databases;
  • Develop price forecasting models and supply and demand models for crude oil and refined products, and apply manipulative or computational methods to models;
  • Attend industry events, build and maintain a strong network of professional relationships.



Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Energy Management or a related field plus three years of full-time work experience as Market Analyst, Data Analyst, Researcher or related occupations.
  • Experience to include:
    1) Detailed understanding of market fundamentals, pricing structures, physical and financial trading strategies;
    2) Advanced knowledge of US and international oil market and expertise analyzing crude oil and refined products’ markets;
    3) Experience using large data sets, with advanced excel, SQL and Python;
    4) Knowledge of competitor landscape, and experience of cargo and vessel tracking data platforms;
    5) Experience using data visualization software, including Tableau and Power BI;
    6) New business development and maintaining relationships with clients
