BlueChip Financial (BCF) is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who loves building software to help drive our company's growth. This position reports directly to the BCF Engineering Manager.
In this role, you will
- Own your implementation from start to finish (design, implementation, testing and production rollout)
- Leverage your career experience to identify looming challenges and technical debt that should be addressed sooner rather than later
- Have enthusiasm for supporting technical and process improvements
- Write code that meets internal standards for maintainability and best practices. Be a steward of such standards by engaging in regular code reviews
- Have deep knowledge and serve as a technical expert on our application stack, its APIs, languages, and database schema
- Participate in the eng-support rotation
- Serve as a technical leader and subject-matter expert for the backend services of the platform you will be working on.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
- 8+ Years experience as a software engineer with code in production
- 3+ years experience with cloud platforms; AWS preferred, but GCP, Azure, and others are okay
- Experience deploying, maintaining and scaling apps
- Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless functions
- A working understanding of modern devops
- releasing and using CI/CD
- Expert proficiency with at least one programming language, eg Scala, Java, or Python
- Proficient with both Relational and Non-Relational databases
- Experience with event processing
- API Development, eg REST, GraphQL
- Proficiency with writing and designing tests via TDD, unit, integration, etc
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior startup experience
- Prior experience with financial companies
- Functional Scala experience
- GraphQL
- ML experience, production real-time use
- Data Warehousing, data engineering
- JVM experience
Location and Travel
BCF is headquartered in Belcourt, North Dakota, with offices in Minneapolis, San Diego, and Atlanta. This position can be located at any of these offices. BCF expects a hybrid work environment with a two-day in-office policy. Travel should be relatively limited, around 1015% per month when needed.
