The Operations and Maintenance Manager is a member of the Facility Operations team tasked with managing the maintenance and repair of standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and BESS + PV facilities and equipment. The Oamp;M Manager is responsible for the implementation and development of maintenance programs, and identifies items needing improvement, to maximize the up-time and technical performance of Convergent’s operational assets. Working closely with internal and external organizations, the Oamp;M Manager provides support for new and existing facilities operations, including coordination of on-site resources, troubleshooting operations, and maintenance requirements of the company’s deployed assets.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide leadership and oversight for day-to-day tasks and operations for Field Technicians and contracted 3rd party resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and contractual responsibilities.
  • Solve complex problems encountered in the operation of BESS and PV systems by facilitating troubleshooting efforts with various subject matter experts to realize resolution.
  • Procure parts, materials, services, and support resolution of technical issues.
  • Prepare scopes of work and statements of services for bid and evaluate and award contracts to consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Communicate progress and ensure ongoing alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Commissioning Provide technical commissioning support to the Project Management Team, including coordination with internal and external organizations on relay settings, SCADA integration, network configuration, and acceptance testing of SCADA, DAS, and network systems.
  • Incident Response Provide root cause analysis for equipment failure, forced outages, and underproduction, including technical evaluation of SEL relay event logs.
  • Scheduling Create and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Document Control Maintain documentation related to facility commissioning, operations, and maintenance including RFP, design drawings, maintenance reports, service history, and root cause analysis. Maintain assigned facility Operations Manuals and ensure that operating policies and procedures are kept up to date.
  • Cost Control - Ensure all asset maintenance is provided on time and to budget, create POs, and process vendor invoices for Oamp;M projects, and strategically manage maintenance activity to reduce cost.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Commitment to Safety in the workplace (OSHA and other federal, state, and local safety practices).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing PV or BESS maintenance or construction (or similar power systems projects), including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment; BESS, HVAC, PV modules, inverters amp; racking, transformers, panelboards, switchgear, relays and communications.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and specifications, network, and control wiring diagrams.
  • Strong Analytical and Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems as identified.
  • Familiarity with electrical construction techniques, installation practices and plant start-up requirements.
  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts with 3rd party service providers.
  • Software experience - MS Office/Teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard communication protocols such as Ethernet and Modbus.
  • Software - AlsoEnergy PowerTrack, AcSELerator.
