Job Description

The Managing Director of Partnerships and Development is accountable for the relationships and opportunities that will develop and sustain the Colorado Health Institute (CHI). This position is focused on ensuring that the organization has the knowledge, relationships, and systems to support consistent, sustainable, and strategic business development aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. This role reports to the CEO and is a member of the senior leadership team.

Responsibilities
The Managing Director of Partnerships and Development’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Establish and support organizational partnership strategy.

  • Create, nurture, and expand strong relationships with a diverse set of public and private organizations, communities, and individuals with a stake in population health and well-being as well as federal, state, and local health and social systems.
  • Collaborate with existing and new partners, identifying shared goals, values, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Strengthen CHI’s value proposition and collaborate with the senior leadership team to broaden our expertise when needed.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to evaluate and ensure CHI’s projects, marketing, and communications align with and enhance its value.

Cultivate mission-focused business development opportunities.

  • Identify new partners, markets, and revenue streams to enhance CHI’s position as a public health institute through long-term, multi-year projects and activities.
  • Align CHI’s business development activities with its strategic plan and mission-driven focus.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate best practices for making decisions about grants and contracts to pursue. Support project teams in evaluating opportunities.
  • Work closely with senior leadership team to establish financial models and annual revenue goals.

Oversee proposal development operations.

  • Increase the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of CHI’s proposal development and submission processes.
  • Coach and advise team members in proposal and business development efforts.
  • Ensure that proposals comply with the requirements and guidelines specified by the funder. Conduct thorough reviews to eliminate errors and inconsistencies and ensure overall quality.
  • Work with financial and project teams to develop accurate cost estimates, pricing strategies, and budgeting details.

Support organizational growth.

  • Work with the senior leadership team and CEO to implement CHI’s strategic plan, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI-B) goals.
  • Establish annual goals with quarterly milestones to advance CHI’s mission.
  • Supports team members and advances organizational goals by leading with cultural competence, humility, and responsiveness through personal actions and actively supports and cultivates culturally responsive leadership across the organization.
  • Assist in strategic development and execution of CHI’s short- and long-range planning and programmatic activities.
  • Support CEO in building and maintaining strong relationships with public and private organizations and individuals.
  • Ensure all team members understand the organization’s approach to growth and sustainability.
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills of fellow team members using empathy, coaching, skill-building, and mentoring techniques.
  • Support internal professional development and manage employment issues as needed.
