OCT Consulting, LLC is an SBA-certified, 8(a) small business management and technology consulting firm that provides support to Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.

Responsibilities and Duties

We currently have an opening for a Solutions Architect to support a federal client. This is a part-time to full-time hire as the project ramps up and we encourage independent contractors to apply (1099s).

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide Requirement Analysis, including but not limited to:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the objectives and requirements of the modernization project.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of the existing infrastructure, systems, and processes documented in the base year.
  • Identify pain points, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide Solution Design, including but not limited to:
  • Develop a high-level solution architecture for the individual five projects as one whole system of systems.
  • Determine the suitable technology stack, platforms, and frameworks in conjunction with agency goals and objectives.
  • Design scalable, secure, and efficient systems that align with business goals.
• Provide System Integration, including but not limited to:
  • Work with the Cloud Engineer to solidify the cloud migration strategy.
    
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure integrations are implemented and tested.
  • Design integration patterns and protocols to ensure smooth data flow and interoperability.
  • Identify the integration requirements for connecting new and existing systems.
• Provide Security and Compliance, including but not limited to:
  • Ensure a comprehensive security strategy is implemented to protect the modernized systems and data.
  • Identify security risks and implement appropriate measures for data privacy, access control, and threat prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Provide Performance Optimization including but not limited to:
  • Oversee load testing and performance tuning as appropriate to ensure optimal system performance.
    
  • Design and implement scalability measures to accommodate growing demands.
  • Analyze system performance bottlenecks and identify areas for optimization.

• Provide Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity, including but not limited to:
  • Design and implement a disaster recovery plan to minimize system downtime.
  • Identify backup and restoration procedures, including data backup frequency and recovery time objectives.
  • Test and validate the disaster recovery plan to ensure business continuity.
• Provide Documentation and Technical Specifications (in collaboration with the technical writer resource), including but not limited to:
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment models, and configuration guides.
  • Document system requirements, specifications, and dependencies.
  • Create user-friendly documentation for administrators and other stakeholders.
• Provide Stakeholder Collaboration (in collaboration with the technical writer resource), including but not limited to:
  • Seek feedback and incorporate suggestions from stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
    
  • Communicate the solution architecture, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Provide Implementation Support, including but not limited to:
  • Provide guidance and support to development teams during the implementation phase.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions as needed.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure a smooth transition to the modernized systems.
• Provide Continuous Improvement, including but not limited to:
  • Include suggested process improvements during monthly communication with points of contact.
    
  • Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives to maximize the benefits of the modernized systems.
  • Identify opportunities for further optimization and enhancement.
  • Monitor system performance and gather feedback from users and stakeholders.
