Job Description

Samsung SDS America (SDSA) is looking for a Senior Microsoft Systems Engineer at Samsung Austin Ramp;D Center (SARC). In this role you will work on the Enterprise IT team which manages, designs, and deploys core infrastructure services including Microsoft solutions. You will be responsible for maintaining, designing, supporting existing and deploying new services and solutions which empowers a team of 600 highly skilled engineers to design and develop SoC for a multitude of Samsung products.

As the Senior Microsoft Engineer, you will work with a small team of Windows systems engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to collaborate on the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex Microsoft infrastructure and applications. Your role will involve hands-on technical work, advisement, and strategic decision-making to ensure the successful delivery of projects and ongoing support. You will help guide service desk staff with escalated issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Guidance: Collaborate and provide guidance around areas of expertise within small team of Windows systems administrators, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Microsoft Solution Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders to gather requirements, architect Microsoft-based solutions, and create detailed technical designs.
  • Implementation: Oversee the implementation of Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Endpoint Manager, and supporting technologies.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all Microsoft-based solutions meet high-quality standards, are secure, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources. Track progress, identify risks, and proactively address issues to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with emerging Microsoft technologies, trends, and best practices. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • System Management: Installs, upgrades, and maintains Windows servers, ensuring proper configuration of hardware, networking, storage, permissions, and security hardening.
  • Monitoring amp; Maintenance: Performs system monitoring, patch management, and proactive alerting to ensure system health.
  • IT Operations Standards: Adhere to ITIL standards of Change Management, Problem Management, and Incident Response.
  • On-call Rotation: Participates in after-hours on-call support, including emergency coverage and critical service rotation.
  • SLA Adherence: Ensures compliance with SLAs for problem resolution using Jira ticketing system.
  • Team Collaboration: Participates in agile style processes in Jira to plan upcoming work, log work, and provide status updates. Participates in regular standup meetings to collaborate and overcome blockers and challenges.
  • Active Directory Expertise: Manages and administers Active Directory at a senior level, including but not limited to Group Policy, backups, security, and recovery procedures.
  • Exchange Server: Assists in maintaining on-premise Exchange Server 2019 environment, including resource management, health monitoring, maintenance and security.
  • Security Response: Proactively and reactively addresses security exploits and vulnerabilities in collaboration with the information security team.
  • Software Upgrades: Assists in planning software, platform, and application upgrades and migrations.
  • Endpoint Management: Assists in managing server and endpoint OS updates and configurations using Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
  • Virtualization: Configures virtual hardware for Windows Servers and workstations using VMware vSphere.
  • SharePoint: Provides support for SharePoint 2019 on-premise, including problem resolution and permissions.
